Partiality Infy
by ravi kiran on Aug 09, 2010 12:11 PM  | Hide replies

Infy i think is always follows the partiality policy when there is hiring of engg grads.. they only take ppl from reputed colleges and disregard ppl who r from other college's even though they have a good ranking and better aggregate and percentage than the one's who are in reputed college's... the best example wud be in bangalore this year they hired around 400 students out of the eligible 700 students in DR.AIT which is a reputed college whereas when they went for hiring in RGIT which is a not so known good college they hired only 5 out of the 1000 candidates who had attended the interview.. so if u got to be in infy u shud be from the top college's in india...

Piri- Finacle is a core banking product from Infy. Similarly TCS has account product, 3i Infotech having Orion ERP for SME and Sify has many internet bandwidth / security products, There are many Indian companies having products in Travel, SCADA, eLearning, Healthcare domain etc. There is nothing extraordinary that Infy is having a product.

Well Rajesh has mentioned below Finacle as database independent product. I think he need more clarity on database part. When someone mention the product as database indpendent, that mean the product can be configured on any database, so that no additional cost levied on customer.

Rajesh.... being database independent does not mean that Finacle which is a core banking product can function without database.

Getting into Infosys
by piri on Aug 09, 2010 11:07 AM  | Hide replies

is portrayed as very difficult here.

However anyone who has tried getting into one of the IIMs and into Infosys would know for sure that Infosys entry is a cakewalk (by a very big margin) in comparison to an IIM entry !

Hi Suppandi,

As you are employed in Infy, I have a question for you. I have came across this question many a times. Is it mandatory to score more than 60% in all academic exams to be eligible for Infy.

Infosys Infrastructure
by rajesh balu on Aug 09, 2010 10:43 AM  | Hide replies

Hi Frnds,

What made Infosys proud is their Infrastructure. They have the best Infrastructure compared to any company in India. Where ever they have branches, they have their own buildings or own campus, mostly they dont have rented buildings. Mostly a Client will look for the best Infrastructure. what do you say ?

IT service Co. need to be known for its capabilities NOT infrastructure only. Otherwise DLF is already there.

Moreover that infrastructure has come from Land Grabbing ( virtually) as most of the land for campur has come at very concessional rate or Revenue duty was waived off in many other cases.
Such previliges were NOT available ( or sought for) by other players.

Now come to capabilities part. Do they have the capability to design and develop an OS or database from scratch???

TCS has designed both of them... but they are not out there in the open as they have been developed on bespoke basis keeping in mind the clients specific requirements... also pls don't compare IT service providers with product developers....

Manu I'm talking about the capability of service provider only and not the product developers as I have not mentioned the financial issues like investment or associated risks.

My point was simple that as service provider whether Infy has the technical capability to design and develop (ofcourse outsourced only) the databse or OS? Regarding technical capabilities of TCS, that is known to the world at large and no dispute on that. They have capability, management is real smart and humble and they don't get paid news published to serve their narrow business interests.

Just to clarify that I have never worked for either of these two companies.

Yes they have the capability. Finacle is a globally recognized and accepted banking product made by Infosys from scratch.
