Truth

Steve Woznaik (and not Steve Jobs) - was the guy who made Mac and Apple a success. Steve Jobs was mainly a marketing guy.

Hype is usually not the truth.

Do you mean to say that marketing does not play ANY role in the success of a product?

@Pankaj & Iota (funny name),
Have you heard of the 4 Ps of marketing? Product is one of them. But the other 3 viz.Price, Place & Promotion are equally important.
You seem to be one of those conceited technical persons who thinks that he is the be all and end all of everything.

I read an article long ago in an international mag as to how the roundish apple mac desktop monitors were designed. one day JOBS simply came into the designers office and said "imagine that this entire office is have bloomong flowwers on the table-- how will it looke like and this what our apple comps should look like"-- the rest is history. JOBS was a creative and practical genius.

I also think so. Actually this is Steve's famous speech at Stanfrod commencement ceremony in 2006. Rediff.com copied that speech

its good to know that you follow rediff so regularly over the past so many years. but for some who are reading this for the first time today it is still inspiring to them and it counts.

Especially in a country like India where people dont hesitate to commit suicide for anything and everything this might be playing a huge differentiator if he happens to read this article even incidentally.

so dont get excited just because you read it 3 yrs back or 5 yrs back. The rest do appreciate it. Move on... guys
