Only relevant Question

Qhat would be scope of work, Roles and Responsibilities.

Other 9 questions are clap. Why do u need KRA, its going to be vague and you cannot assess the opportunity with that.

Salary Breakdown, Mostly this is standard. May be some perks attract FBT.

Rediff has a bad practise of publishing articles like 3 things when getting a loan, 5 things to consider while buying a house, 8 questions you ask stock broker...Something like it.

good questions but no gurantee that words will be kept.

Yes these are some of the most relevant questions which an experienced employee must ask if he is planning to change his job/employer. If you ask these questions then the interviewer becomes alert and mostly appreciates your smartness. But it can backfire if the potential interviewer / employer is not looking for a very smart type of employee (mostly pvt. ltd companies). Use these questions carefully.

But in most cases the management is very cunning in giving all the right answers which a employee would like to hear (to attract him to the organisation)and showing him heaven and a rosy future. Later when he joins he discovers the truth.

Absolutely true. I agree with you. Many times you hear nice words about value organisation, performance apprisal, training systems, proper reporting structure, etc. and after you join, you will find nothing but learn your way and do the things to the satisfaction of your boss. Rest, you dont get involved.

Applicable to western country not India
by V SR on Sep 11, 2009 09:31 PM  | Hide replies

I have seen that these questions are relevant in western country, particularly in USA. If you keep asking such questions in Indian interview, you are sure not to get the job. Many times, interviewer in India gets offended if interviewee asks questions. Even if you want to ask questions, it may be more related to your job and compensation package. If you ask them annual performance apprisal system, how much company invest in employees and all, the first think the interviewer is going to think is that this guy is going to be come some union leader showing his rights in the company and he should be weeded out right now. Please be aware, when you are in India behave as per the requirements of this country rather than ape western and get into trouble.

Main difference in interviews in India and US.

In US, Interviewers will ask you questions such that the response will indicate what you know and how you can be useful for a company/project

In India, they will ask you questions just to prove you do not know something. If you say "I have not worked in that technology" or "I am not 100% sure on a design", It will be a moral victory for the Interviewer. The interviewer can go back with over inflated ego. You can say not all interviewers, But 90 percent

not much as the details of the job/ compensation/ perks are transparent. They will assess you on your attitude, aptitude, motivation, cosistency in thought and action etc .

nowadays job seekers are taking interview instead of employer. Can rediff post an article on what questions employers should ask like, will you please do some work if and when you join, have you even read the job requirements before dropping in, etc.
