I Disagree..
by Akhilesh Vaidya on Oct 21, 2009 10:30 AM  | Hide replies

MBA's today are a dime a dozen. I firmly believe that one should stick to their core competency, rather than switiching disciplines. There is no point in doing an MBA for the wrong reasons. Dont do an MBA if you want to change your career. Do it only if you want to have a better understanding of business. Then combine your previous knowledge with the MBA to unleash your full potential.

Is MBA that imporatnat? my friend just did his B.Tech and now works for a very big company. He is doing well, earns 3lakh per month at 39 years of age...I mean, not grest when compared to MBA but then this is fine by normal standards. Funnything is no girl wants to marry him as she feels he is just a graduate. what do these girls want?

I would say that an MBA is important, not to get good jobs or to earn better money, but to be more aware of what is happening around you... in terms of markets, finances. It even helps in understanding politics to a certain extent... understanding how strategies are made and why they are made. I am an MBA too, but before that, I am a professional Hotelier. I did not quit the industry just bcos i got my MBA degree. You have to know what you are good at. I know im good in hospitality and im satisfied with my life, for the moment. As for girls, forget about them... im 31, still single. Please tell your friend to take it easy.. Things will happen in due course, when they have to. Also, please tell him to enjoy himself with his salary n yet save for a rainy day.

I agree to some extent that hype of MBA Tag haunts us all. I have seen most of MBA's are stereotyped & does not pocess skill to convert their knowledge into actual job needs. For Ex ; Look at MBA's with HR Specialisation's once they look into your CV They just ask Why are you not that or this. They even do not pocess sense of asking what is the achivement that you have done with the existing qualification. Even they begin to analyse our have not's rather Doing SWOT Analysis which they learn in their Course.
One thing that all of us should Know that MANAGERS are born, Not created in any machinery tools or fine tuned by any lathe's.

False Notion

MBA is nothing but a over-glamourized ONE-DAY vocational discipline.

Business Admin cant be taught but depends only on individual-discipline,IQ and dedication to the job with sincerity and truthfullness.

Only fools and people with zero intelligence run for such CAREER_COVER looking after all the rats in the race.

Unnecessary Stress in Corporate
by Anubhav Seth on Oct 21, 2009 10:07 AM  | Hide replies

If you are a MBA and working in the corporate sector there is a good 70 per cent chance of your being stressed out or at least heading in that direction.

This has been brought to light in an evaluation carried out in 10 corporate companies across the Capital where 300 corporate workers were interviewed to look at stress levels encountered among corporates

Throwing up a disturbing trend, the survey pointed to a whopping 52 per cent of the corporate city population indicating mild to moderate stress levels, 39 per cent showed signs and symptoms of minimum to mild stress and 9 per cent manifesting severe stress.

According to the survey, a significant population of corporate workers show that stress affects not just physical health but also causes emotional disturbances and this in turn effects the overall lifestyle and social life of the person.

Lifestyle

"Occurrence of lifestyle issues, improper diet, lack of exercises and inadequate rest among corporate Delhi workers highlight the fact that they do not pay enough attention to taking care of themselves and this in the long run leads to stress. Poor coping style and personality factors, both can be corrected with the advice and counselling of an expert," said Consultant Psychiatrist at Max Hospital, Samir Parikh, who conducted the survey in Delhi, Mumbai

Analysis of the stress factors reveals that the main causes are those aspects that each individual can try and change in self if giv

Exactly you are right SSSppp. MBA's are meant to just Scream & Shout & Scold at their subordinates. Since they(MBA's) are Trained & Educated Coolies
