Good Luck to Ms.Saumita, apart from this be careful from the petro biggies who might face a big loss. a lot of people are suffering with the pollution and those who encourage the petro-chemicals too. But, they need only money, money, money......... not at all worried abt the nature and the mankind.
D. goel Pkl. afternoon, 1pm., Friday,Oct 9,2009. It is truly doing something highly environmentally healthy Green Research to make Bio-Ethanol from Yard-Waste Rice Stalks and similar other residuary left-overs of Farm operations. If it works out than the cost and total quantity of Ethanol so produced most certainly be much less, that helps us in reducing our fuel charges once your work could be commercialized.Best Luck.D. Goel
Just two simple things can make India Cleaner ....
1. When People stop urinating on streets.. 2. When People stop spitting on streets..
But the problem is that, these are essentially a part of the so-called highly appreciated indian ethos and culture, and tough to even negotiate on its elimination, forget complete ban.

U R RIGHT. BUT I THINK THERE SHOULD SOME LAWS TO IMPLEMENT & CONTROL THESE THINGS, SINCE EVERYONE WILL NOT HAVE THE SENSE TO KEEP INDIA CLEANER. ONLY STRICT LAW CAN PURSUE THEM.
NOONE URINATE OR SPIT IN THEIR HOUSES, BUT THEY DO IN THE PUBLIC PLACES. THEY SHOULD TREAT THIS AS THEIR HOME.

Can u please find an answer, why nowadays more people addicted towards liquor, and consuming tobacco in different methods, inspite of the govt. propagating the illness and the adverse effects?.... If u can find the answer, then u cant write this. I would like to say one thing.
Only 15% - 20% of Indian population owns the vehicles. who has given them the right to pollute the balance 80% population to make suffer from this bull shit vehicle pollution. and if these 15% population can think that 85% population are their relatives then definitely the urinators, pan chewers, tobacco chewers, drinkers will definitely mend themselves to a cleaner world. educators must take initiation and change and should not try to change the illiterates.
just adopt basic civic sense first then talk all this going green slogans. for India start with the following: educate people on personal hygeine teach people to use toilets and build it for them ask people not to urinate everywhere build modern crematoriums and encourage professional funeral homes dont dump half cremated dead bodies into the ganges enforce graveyard hygeine. graveyards are infested with germs. build urinals in every street corner. God knows why Indians have to follow the west in sensationalist going green fad when basic education is lacking in that country.

I fully endorse this. I did not associate with Green peace which I thought is more noise than doing anything in reality.
Everyone can do their bit in creating a greener world.

right..i feel shunning the polythene bag is the least we can do..we really dont need to know about solar heaters....
Even on crucial issues of survival it is too much for countries to agree due to mistrust. The richer countries have lived it up & while the poorer ones try to scale-up by increased usage of energy through coal, oil, fingers are pointed at them as the villains!
Forget climate change! We have more basic interests at ridding ourselves of oil dependency! Why be beholden to an unstable source that can throttle us in times of dire need? Time we revisted the past of sustainable living & stopped aping the West in their calculations of progress through raping mother earth!
There is already a great awareness now in the developed world. But still the addiction to fossil fuel is difficult to kick mainly due to their life-style with US consuming 25% of total.
It is the passion of the young like Saumita that can lift us up! Biomass can be just one. What about converting our blinding sunlight that can break us free from all clutches! Yes, it is expensive but with our vast technical manpower now doing repetitive slogging, our govt should fund this field. If cloudy Europe is ahead we have even nore prospects! The employment potential is enormous if energy is produced at village levels! Population can also be dispersed minimising the consequences of natural disasters which strike us more often - put eggs in different baskets!
We should adapt our life-styles. Gandhiji is always relevant- we have everything to meet our needs, but not the greed! Let there be more Saumitas!
All so called environmentalists argue that the world is going to end if we don't adopt to alternate fuel due to global warming. Shouldn't we adopt to no-fuel alternate life style if really want to make impact on environment? Cars are made with steel, which comes from iron ore which comes from mining, which uses "global warming causing" technology. and not to mention pollutants from steel plants. shouldn't everything be "green" based technology?
Ethanol is being produced from sugarcane in Brazil. India needs to look at the example. Brazil produces its own cars that runs on Ethanol. India can also do this.
Its a pleasure reading your interview. Its a feeling of fresh , uncoorupted , clean air around us after reading daily about the word corrupt all over India.
Best of Luck & God Bless you Keep up the good work.
