You should actually read the book before classifying it as a "gyan cum spiritual" book

You are Wrong ...
by abishek gowda on Jul 07, 2009 08:11 PM

You are new kid in the block mate. As someone has commented, every one are different and interpret things in a different way. R u assuming that you are better than all the readers who appreciate the work of paulo Coelho and Dan Brown? If so, i think ur definitely wrong.. think about it again...

But anyway, u coming out with a book is a great job and wish you all the best.

Rubbishing Paulo Coelho
by Mathil Fernandes on Jul 07, 2009 08:09 PM

There may be a grain of truth to the statement that Paulo Coelho's works may not be recommended for writers of Insiayah's genre although it is very much worth exploring.... Chandrahas's critical condemnation of Paulo Coelho much appreciated works is totally uncalled for. Maybe he is totally blinded by the hint of promise in the reviews of his sole work of any repute.
Just because you do not subscribe to beliefs other than your own, you do not rubbish at someone else's. Broaden your horizions Chandrahas.. you might write a better book next time.
As for the universe conspiring to give you what you want really badly, Its true

Well Chandrahas Choudhury, you are wrong about Paul Coelho. If you do not like his writings don't read them. Nobody is force-reading you Paul Coelho. As Krishnakant Upadhyaya says down below, coming out with a book does not make you GOD. As a budding author do not have such strong opinions. You never know, you may start liking Coelho's writings one day. As you can see in this message board there are dozens of readers who like him. I am also one amongst them. Good luck buddy.

being small too doesn't mean he's right! If he was right after all, he shud have been as famous as Paulo Coelho and Dan Brown. This guy is in just for publicity. Wonder where Rediff finds such persons for interview. Get some life man. As an author you should never have recommended throwing away books. DUH!

Rubbish... but what?
by Vaasu Rahi on Jul 07, 2009 07:46 PM

I haven't read Chandrahas's book as yet. But i wish him success. He should understand that people come in the world with different frames of mind. Once in a while a writer comes to change the lives of the people. Now Chandrahas should not ask what dirrerence has Coelho made to people's lives. At least he is liked and crores of copies sold of his books is a proof. Writers and readers are also among people. If you (chandrahas) don't like a writer, it is your opinion. Don't throw your opinion on readers' face, they may not like it. Freedom of speech does not mean 'such' criticism as you have made.

Please do not ridicule someone just because he doesnt conform..
by Krishnakant Upadhyaya on Jul 07, 2009 07:40 PM  | Hide replies

Dear Mr. Chandrahas Choudhury,

I dont even know who you are. And I havent read your book. But let me tell you this, that whatever you may have written, and whatever it is that you believe, please do not call any one else's belief as rubbish.. Everyone in this world is entitled to what he has to say. If you dont believe him, dont read his work. As simple as that. You dont have to ridicule anyone for not conforming to your belief system. It lowers your esteem in people's eye. And refrain from preaching good bad or ugly.. You are nobody to do that. Writing one book doesnt make you GOD.

You seem not to understand the 'psyche' of a good writer dear Upadhyaya. Good writers and editors will always and should always be critical and should utter or deliver only when they are confident of what they perceive and reveal.

It is a 'tight rope' walk.

And I see a lot of diligence and work in this man, considering the plot of his novel and the way he explains of its construction, if true, should be from a person of some integrity at least.

And who can say calling a spade a spade would be wrong?

And more than anything even this man's work is out for such criticism upon publication. The crucial thing is that such criticisms should be based on facts, which this man has done rubbishing the work in question.

Paulo Coelho is indeed a good writer. I very much liked his book "The Witch of Portobello". Insiyah Vahanvaty seems to be too jealous of his success!
