R.K.Narayanan is not a regional writer. He has written completely in English only.
Jeeves Chronicles - PG Wodehouse The Green Mile - Stephen King Not A Penny More, Not A Penny Less - Jeffrey Archer Freedom At Midnight - La Pierre & Collins Tin Drum - Gunter Grass The Guide - R.K. Narayan Godaan - Munshi Premchand Sherlock Holmes - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle Pygmallion - George Bernard Shaw Grahana - S.L.Bhyrappa (Kannada)
...difficult to list all the good books and their authors

I am not sure I would add Jeffrey Archer, Stephen King etc to the list of authors with literary skills.

Who are your favourite authors and which books have you particularly enjoyed reading?
I guess my list had more to do with this question rather than anything to do with literary skills.
Bibhuti bhusan and Sarat Chandra are my all time favourite writers. And I love the compositions of Bankim Chandra, who as a writer and thinker, was much ahead of his time. His "Kamalakanter Daftar" would have surely gotten Nobel Prize. Sarat Chandra's "Sesh prashna" or "Sreekanta" and Bibhuti Bhusan's "Pather Panchali" are creations of wonder and would have definitely won the Nobel.
