Akshayapatra

Equally, I would like to mention the NGO Akshayapatra, which provides free, nutritious mid-day meals to 10 lakh children daily - a very big reason to make children turn up at school every day.

I request readers to visit their website and support them.

Bollywood stash money
by deepak on Jan 02, 2010 12:39 AM  | Hide replies

Bollywood stars who stash away obscene amounts of money..cricket stars should pool in their money and completely wipe out illiteracy in India..these guys should run chain schools for underprivileged children and impart quality education..India does it the wrong way..it penalizes merit by reservation whereas deprives lower classes from quality education.

Good Job

I belong to Solapur and in May 2009 we did something similar. I got in touch with my friends in US and managed to collect around 1000 USD which I sent to my father who in turn bought school supplies and distributed for free to poor children and also provided them uniform. Only 47-48 thousand INR were enough to make difference to atleast 150-180 students.

Your effort is really appreciable and as per example the help and amount can be contributed by few committed people.. we dont need to depend on the corrupt politicians to change the world.
