we should also focus on tourist, not just tourist denstination.
by bihari babu on Jan 06, 2010 11:49 PM

Usually foreign tourist get mad when taxi wala, or hotel walla cheat them. They honour honesty and integrity more than anything else. So once they come india and feel everyone is trying to robb them with smile. They get angry and never come back. We should protect and care about our tourist more than tourist destination. That will maek sure that more tourist come back. that means we have more foriegn currency, more income for local indian.

North East left out
by Kumar on Jan 06, 2010 11:40 PM

Can't help thinking that there must be many destinations in North East India that are much more enchanting than Jaipur - mainly because of lack of exposure

needs more dvlpment for tourist.
also I my observation is that west tourists mainly want to find a good beach spot and relax on beaches. this is priority 1.
looking at temples, culture, wildlife is priority 2
indians dont understand this ..as we dont have a real beach culture except in goa.

Incredible India!
by Sanjay Kala on Jan 01, 2010 01:36 PM

It's nice to read the local sentiments from the readers that Manali, Laddakh, North-east, Tamil Nadu etc. should have been included. It's true each part of INDIA offers something unique be it in art & arch., hertiage, tourism or modernization.

We Indians should be (rather) are proud of it. Whole world comes to see our land. Talk to the foreign tourists, maximum of them convey this sentiment; this a bright side of the story. But, at the same time in some countries our Indian students, jobseekers are thrashed by the locals; it is painful side of the story.

INDIA is like an elephant- majestic in size but slow in pace, but if aroused it can chase like rino. I wish that 2010 should make India which is no doubt like a majestic elephant, but the efficiency should be matched with a tiger. Let all Indians come together to make INDIA more stronger, because if INDIA is strong INDIANS will be strong & respectable allover the world.

WISH ALL FELLOW INDIANS A HAPPY NEW YEAR- 2010.

Hi Rediff-Wish you a very happy & prosperous new year
by mammen antony on Jan 01, 2010 12:42 PM

I personally celebrate the 12th year of my association with Rediff. It has been a wonderful time with rediif.I always equate my affiliation with Rediff as a relation between two equal friends with all its receptivity, forthrightness and benignity.I never had an occassion to feel let down by friend, to whom I could speak anything under the sun, without any reservation except few occassions of moderator's censorships, that too in a later moments of self realisation that moderator was cen percent justified in deleting those venomed livid remarks I made in a moment of rush of blood which would have embarassed many.
I take this moment, not only to wish you a happy new year, but also to express my sentiments of gratitude for what you have to me all these years. A Big Thank you Once again and to all the participant of the Great Discussion Board which has no parallels .Let us renew our friendship here once again.
