This is a good initiative . the only question is about execution . i hope this also does not result as source of income for employees responsible to execute this project .

NRHM members are squeezed by others
by Guest on Aug 14, 2009 12:19 PM

The people appointed through NRHM scheme are facing lot of problems with others. They are not allowed to practice, to get intaract with patients and they put all their burdens on NRHM employees. But the officers won't give proper facilities, no traveling facilities to reach the people, no proper set up,no medicines at the hospitals or PHCs.

Marriage is Sacred Children are fruits of this Sacrament of Love
by cosme dias on Aug 14, 2009 12:18 PM  | Hide replies

Thank God that children are not sanctioned by the government...
Children are a gift of love a blessing from the Almighty Creator. There have been many couples who delay having children and have paid the price. For when they really wanted children they couldn't get them.

A man and a woman join in Holy Matrimony to live in love and be a procreator and thus bring children into this world. And anyone who tempts someone to 'block' these gifts from God is naturally not walking the path of 'dharma'. He is unholy.

So my advice to my fellow Indians is not to fall for this latest Government scheme.

May God bless you and make your marriage fruitful.

U mean to say, u will accept any number of children u and ur spouce deliver? What if u produce a child every year and goes on? U consider that has a gift from god and accept and by the age of 40 u will have more than 5 or 10 children?

I think this is a good initiative. Rather than delaying, Govt, should appreciate couples who has only one child.

Right, but what if everyone think this way and have several children? One of the major reason india is still not a developed country is its population (After the corruption). A true citizen should understand their role and help nation go forward.

What u suggest to create awareness? When there is some penalty or rewards are given to the couples they will understand the importance of population and their role in that.

Awareness of Sex Education, Family Planning, incentives like free schooling , exempt from income tax etc. etc.. Above all a tab must be kept on Govt. officals as they are the one who wants the public not abide so as to have the money for themselves through false reporting

What if the person qualify this for the first marriage and not for second one. Should we encourage this since he had complied once or for breaking it once.

What if the person have child marriage before marriage and comply with this after the marriage, as the rules are applicable after marriage.

What are these rules we are framing. It is another stupid rule.
Govt gifts you if you get married. (some parts of india)
Govt gifts you if you dont have child after marriage. (again some part of india).
Again govt gifts you if it kills some one becasue of ignorance (in the name of compensation).

GOOD IDEA
by gerard dsouza on Aug 14, 2009 12:17 PM

also penalise couples if they have more than two kids...
encourage gay marriages especially in the rural areas...
provide free condoms, vasectomies etc....each village should be given a population growth rate;if they exceed that penalise the entire village.
sex ed...delaying marriage age are other options.

instead of rewarding them to delay having children the govt. should penalise anyone having children whithin first two years of marriage.the penalty amount should be big enough for the deterrence

in that case better not to have a child because the child will miss the love and caring of one of the parents.this is pure selfishness .

Govt people normally afrid of Our muslim community which is very strong enough and can enfluence entire Hindustan. Therefore Hindu govt of congress ( normally they call Secular themselves) can not say to we muslims that have 2 kids only. this is the reason they are trying to bring this type of scheme for us. But we Mulsmis are strong and Govt can not make fool to us. We are in democratic country so we will have our kid as per our wish.

Yes Sir... u produce as many as you can ... no body is dare enough to voice against you.

Even in Muslim countries they impose self restriction on having number of children, but in India ....yes you have the liberty... (except some educated muslim people)

The biggest problem India facing today is Population explosion and is main source for all problems like corruption, unemployment etc

by Shekhar C on Aug 14, 2009 12:15 PM

Delaying is not going to help - instead of selecting couples for delaying kids - select those who will have more than 3 and tell them they will not get any subsidy like pay more for cooking gas, no ration, no VISA etc.

Good start
by Munish Ohri on Aug 14, 2009 12:12 PM  | Hide replies

This is of course a very good start. At least one more step in controlling the population. As cities like Delhi are already educated enough and understand the problems of bigger family and also that of larger population, these kind of incentives should also be started in the areas where people are not so educated. The amount govt has put is an excellent amount for the poor couples, who actually need to understand about this larger problem.
If states like Delhi introduce this kind of policies, it will definitely control Delhi's population to some extent, but the control on inflow of people from other states to Delhi should also be controlled.
If Delhi controls at one end and keeps all other ends loose, the result would not be interesting.

The problem is something else in Delhi. You see so many real estate builders given permission for building townships, flats, malls etc. This has depleted the groundwater to such as extent that it is irreversible. The ground water is depleting at 4cms per year as the sattelite images and a subsequent research study of NASA points to.Maybe we have to think of some small townships say around 70-80 kms from delhi.
