Price rise
by Hari Harakumar on Apr 10, 2008 10:05 AM  | Hide replies

They are not bothered. They know very well that when the election comes, they can throw something here and something there by way of appeasements calculated on the basis of caste and community. We the fools will elect them again!

For a good part (17-20 per cent approximately as calculated in the table below) of the extra bucks (approximately Rs 3,000-4,000 per month) which the salaried class will have when they (a huge demography including the ever-increasing young that join the workforce thanks to a booming economy) get their April salary will be gobbled up by the increase in the prices of daily essentials like rice, wheat, various dals and pulses, vegetable and cooking oil, vegetables et al.

lol this was expected..thats waht i said..that budget is not good..back then..and ppl said..no its good we save more money now...
and now look..
so now ppl will agree that budget was bad..
and I dont think it matters to PC..since he never paid taxes...so he doesnt understand what are taxes and how it affects the common man..

Indian NGO
this shouldn't be a problm
by Indian NGO on Apr 10, 2008 09:56 AM

Their food expenses are all paid by the tax payers and they are only concerned about the elections coming in else they wouldn't have taken some time off to say few words on combating inflation. But to an extent there is little i think the FM can do as this inflation is not just a problem in India but all over the world. The financial market is really under big strains and its about to wipe out nearly $1 trillion which was all used to pump the greed of executives.

Hello Friends,

I can clearly understand from the table and my personal experience, that the price of commodities are rising. But can someone give me more details on Inflation:
1. How is inflation calculated?
2. What is the cause for the current inflation?
3. What factors affect inflation/deflation?

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

BIG PLAYERS LIKE RELIANCE AND INTERNATIONAL FIRMS ENTERING THE RETAIL MARKETS IS THE REAL RESON.
THEY HORD ALLOW PRISES TO RISE AND ALL SMALL PLAYERS WILL DIE A NATRUAL DEATH AND THEN THEY CAN THRIVE AT MARGINS WHICH IS SUITABLE TO THEIR GREED.
THE POOR IGNORANT MAJORITY MIDDLE CLASS SUFFER AND ARE SATISFIED WITH WHAT EVER IS OFFERED TO THEM LIKE THE EXAMPLE GIVEN BELOW.
GOLD PRISES RISE SLOWLY FROM 10000 TO 13500 ALL THE MEDIA SHOUT AT THE PEAK OF THEIR VOICE THAT THE PRICE HAS RISEN. THEN THERE IS A REDUCTION OF 500 AND THE MEDIA SHOUT AT THE PEAK OF THEIR VOICE THAT GOLD PRICES HAS COME DOWN
THE COMMAN MAN IS ELATED THAT THE PRICE OF GOLD HAS COME DOWN AND RUSHES TO BUY NOT KNOWING THAT IN FACT IT HAS GONE UP BY 2500.
THE SAME FORMULA APPLIES TO EVERYTHING FROM VEGETABLES TO OIL TO RICE AND PULSES

corrections...

Dear

you have said, I qoute

"And these items are considered essential by even the poorest sections of the Indian society -- that is perhaps the reason why fruits are not included in the above list."

You should have told the other way round,
"And these items are essential at least by the poorest sections of the Indian society, it is they who are hurt the most"

Anyway none of US/THEM "so called for whom economy is booming" is really affected by the rise in the prices of "The ESSENTIAL Commodities".

And hence the FM or PM.

Price increase and FM
by shanthakumar rp on Apr 10, 2008 09:45 AM

It does. But parliament will treat the MPs and ministers with a pay hike. Out of office after the next election he will increase in professional fee he charges to his clients and make it up by more than 100 times. At his level It is an advantage unlike a salaried person

To - Rahul,Anjana,Hema G U, and all others
We should not restrict ourselves to blame game and be CHARCHA BAHADURS. Instead be KARMA BAHADURS like our freedom fighters, ANNA HAZARE, BABA AMTE, Dr.ABHAY BANG, RSS SWAYAMSEVAKS silently working and trying and do everything possible, howsoever small or insignificant it may appear, to bring about a change and cause a difference to the people around us to better the worsening situation of today.
