Price rise
by Shyam on Apr 10, 2008 10:31 AM

The strategy appears to be something else. In a very planned manner, the present government reduced the interest rates on savings forcing common man to spend it on luxuries. Since luxuries are not recurring expenditure, they brought in MNCs in retail marketing, like Spencers, Reliance, etc. Then they formed unholy alliance between these malls and producers to keep on printing ever rising higher MRPs on the wrappers of items. The MNCs made it a trend to sell at MRP invariably and show some discount as a grace. This is conveniently adopted by the roadside petty vendors also this is very useful for their profiteering. What I believe is a good portion of this loot is being diverted to the ruling party for forth coming elections. Common man cannot understand all these strategies of our rulers and keeps spending all the money. Let any party come to power, our fate is not going to change.

New comparison
by Rajesh Kamal on Apr 10, 2008 10:29 AM

Dear Friends,
A comparison in prises of Dec and march says it all. As compared to Dec, most prices have gone up by 30 - 60%. Many companies have reduced the weight in the packets and say they have not reduced the price. My dear FMCG companies: Can u tell me the per unit (kg or gram) price of ur products (NOT THE PRICE OF THE PACKET)

Sonia party govt is not at all responsible for the price rise, because this is according to wishes of the people. Before Laksabha elections Sonia party had clearly promised that if they return to power, old days will come back.

Who does not know how were the old days of congress governments? Still people voted it to power, becasue they wanted those old days of dearness, crimes and curruptions back. Now they have got what they wanted and deserve.

Instead of criticising congress, we must praise them for keeping their election promise.

Dear FM: Is the price rise not affecting you?
by Hebbar R on Apr 10, 2008 10:09 AM

Ofcourse it does not financially affect the Finance Minister (or indeed any of the ministers, MPs, MLAs or the Babus). Personally, for the FM, it does not affect as he is also a successful lawer and so is his wife. With the complexity of the Laws, he will be well benefited professionally.

Ofcourse, the political price may be a different issue. But then, people do get carried away by slogans of free TV sets, Cheap Rice (may be not fit for consumption anyway), write off loans etc. So the Political price is something that can still be managed. It is therefore no wonder that the reactions are so slow and half-hearted. In any case, the Govt (specifically this UPA Govt) does not care much for the salaried class. This is pretty evident from the Budget proposals of the first 4 years of this Govt rule and specifically from the Budget for FY 2007-08.

They have never seen poverty from the day, they are earning, have been in silver spoons. They do not know the miseries of a common man in India. They know how to such the blood by way of collecting taxes on each and every issue.
