Contrceptive pill : side affect
by mani on Jan 06, 2007 02:03 PM  | Hide replies

Dear Sir,

I got married six months back. We are using contraceptive pills (Mala D) to avoid pregnancy (Please note, we are aware of how/when to take the pills).

But my wife is facing following side afftects by taking these pills :-
- vomiting after taking pills
- periods twice a month / sometimes it delays
- excessive bleeding during periods
- clotted / thickend (fluid in nature) bleeding during periods

My wife hesitates to go to a doctor (as she is not comfortable to discuss this matter). So we would request you to please guide us the preventive and corrective measures. She has stopped taking these pills since 1.5 months. But monthly cycle disorderness and monthly cycle complications mentioned above are still there.

Please help. Thanks in Advance.

Regards,
Mihir.

she should see a doctor immediately.
Instead of asking her to take contraceptives, you should take recourse of condoms which do not have any side effects whatsoever.

In case of a burst condom for emergency purpose once in a while you wife can take the new emergency contraceptive called i-pill

Experience while delaying periods.
by Jaya Sinha on Jul 20, 2006 12:06 AM  | Hide replies

There have been several incidents in the past where some very important occassions have clashed with my periods and the only option left for me was to forcibly delay them.

But before going that, I made sure to see a gyno and take his/her advice and took only those medicines prescribed by them.

Fortunalety I never had any problems while I was on oral contraceptives. Inspite of that, I go for this option when it is absolutely essentail because at the end of the day, you are taking external hormones to delay a natural process. So the usage should be extremely minimal.

I had body pain throughout the usage of OC
by HD on Jul 18, 2006 08:19 AM

I have to share my experience with others.I had body pain through out my usage of Oral contraceptives.I couldnt work or concentrate.I had mood swings.

After I consulted my doctor, she was also surprised with the side effects I had.She gave me a milder dose but the pain persisted. After monitoring my condition, the doctor suggested that I give up Oral Contraceptives. Now I feel fine and am without pain.

I was adivsed by the doctor to take OC in order to regularize my periods.
