Isn't it more important to make your child a good human being irrespective of his religion and concentrate your efforts on that rather than spend time giving him a very well-defined religious upbringing?
Right but it is difficult to feed directly. If u can do try

Do you think a child with a mixed religious identity can get confused or lack confidence?
Yes if discussed different things in home about both religion.
Does a child need to be known as belonging to one religion either Hindu or Muslim or Jain or Christian for the purpose of identification for school, passport and other forms rather than saying none or both?
I think record only one religion recorded so father’s religion can be recorded. Now new religion Manna Dharma is started having no different God but Humanity base.Vipassana meditation not teach about any God but scientific way which can be tried. Meditation without God name is possible.
Is it wrong for a mother to want her child to know her religion as well as her husband's religion? Or should a child necessarily follow her/ his father's religion?
Child has to select what they like. Only u should guide not forced
What are the best ways to bring knowledge of different religions in a multi-religious household?
Reading only, in college one subject is there Jagat na Dharmo
What are the best ways to teach your child about God?
Teach about one God, try to give all answers of questions, Vipassana have children training one day camp as per age group can be tried
Are our schools doing a good job of bringing religion to our children?
No

we r all god
by shweta on Mar 09, 2006 02:37 PM

god is not somebody outside u or up in the heaven above, god is a part of you the part that is true and just...the part that is compassionate
whichever religion we talk of the essence of god remains the same
we must teach our children to awaken and nurture the god within each one of us

seek HIM
by M. Leelavathi.,M.A.,B.Th on Feb 05, 2006 06:32 PM

Relgion is not all that important in life, it would not take you anywhere, and it was rightly said that it is like an Opium to the people, but I must say that FAITH in God ,TRUST in personal God is essential in life. Respect for all the religious people and for their sacred books gives the children a compassionate heart for the fellow being and to render helping hand when they are in need . There is so much to do in this world for the poor and needy, religous prejudices should not build the walls between the humanbeings.
Coming to the questions of Faith and Trust, this is work of the God's spirit, ones the child starts to seek God with all her/his heart..seeking answers from God for the very existence of her's/his surely she will find the answers ina mysterious ways, because there is a world , a supernatural world which we are not acquiant with, while observing the sky, stars, moon and the sun, the man realizes that there is greater intelligence behind all this handiwork, whom he would like to call as GOD...The child should be taught to love that wonderful GOD,trust Him and lean upon HIM in times of his distress and find time to commune with Him tha is the duty of every parent.

Does your child believe in God?
by S.Kumar on Jan 06, 2006 04:31 PM

Dear friend,

I am pleased that you have brought about the Most Vital topic on earth. Not many parents are concerned and so broad-minded in this important aspect. They are more particular in drawing their children to their own traditional beliefs. No religion or a religious person is perfect enough. The yearning for God is natural for everyone and thats the way God has created us, so this should not be suppressed in a child. Even as parents we should not come in-between this sacred relationship, rather encourage and promote it. Even a particular religion, custom or culture or a traditional superstition should be enforced as an altenative to this relationship between an individual and God. God is real and supreme.

Well, children are benefited a lot by believing in God. They get feel more secure, attain self-worth and significance by having personal relationship with God. Life is filled with many ups and down and children are required to take a lot of vital decisions. Knowing the mind of God and getting His help enables them to take the right decision. They need to know that Suicide is not a solution to problem nor bad habits a way for joy!
