The story sounds so much like Michael Lewis's Liar's Poker, right from scratch to end. The only difference being he was a Masters of Universe in Sales & Trading dept & the writer here, in Corporate Finance, two completely different money machines for a single source. Unfortunately or not, Investment Banking positions in India are still not as sought after as they are in Financial Capitals like New York, London or Hong Kong. In India, its more restricted to plain IPO offerings and M&A's to Max.
the whole article of yours!!!! extremely entertaining but a bit too dramatic.... didn't we forget to point out an itsy bitsy point that we as investment bankers help channelise the money in right businesses such as to increase the overall worth. Second, some may sell a business too well and some may not, but at the end of the day, the game is fair, bcos only the fair value is paid out, thanks to the pianstakingly aggresive negotiations.... third, sucking upto the boss, i would like to point out that nothing suceeds like success, do a great job, let your boss make lots of deals and yes the bonus will come running for you.
its absolutely true rohan which all u discussed here. the rule is simple.....more pain more gain......
and believe me....this is wht, i have always wanted to get into this kinda job. even though i'm nt into IB rigt now. But i'm trying really hard to get into this...
