BJP should be dismantled into MJP (Modi Janata Party), SJP (Shekhawat Janata Party), YJP (Yeddi Janata Party), RJP (Raman Janata Party) and JJP (Jaitley Janata Party). In fact each leader can have his/her own party.

Why UPA won?
by Ram Sharma on May 25, 2009 11:51 AM  | Hide replies

Most of the Communal Mslims & many Sikhs (bcz of MMS being Sikh) voted for it on communal ground (even Mayawati said that Mslims did not vote for it this time), splitting of anti Cong votes in AP, TN & M'rashtra, infighting in CPM in Keral, wish for change from 32 yr rule of Left in WB. Moreover media also seems to hv been sold to Sonia Parivar. Though Priyanka was touring only Amethi and Raibareli areas, she was given maximum coverage. Still Cong got only 28.8% of casted votes.

Opposition parties were also not able to convince the people about Dangers of Dynastic Rule, Softness of UPA towards terrorists, winning of trust vote by bribing MPs on mass scale, Unwillingness of UPA to approach Swiss authorities for bank account details etc.

interesting data:

Congress got only 2% more votes than 2004, but got 42% more seats in 2009.

BJP got 3% less votes tha 2004, but got 15% less seats in 2009.

So, where did Congress seats come from - Of course 3rd and 4th Front.

I Pity the people of Amethi and Raibareli, who is opting the Nehru family, who has done really nothing to improve the basics in those areas.

Indians are unpredictable
by ContraView on May 25, 2009 11:48 AM  | Hide replies

I feel UPA's win is a pure random outcome (statistical outcome) and nothing else. Here are two arguments:

a. Even though Gujarat is developed & administered so well by Modi (i am not talking about hindu muslim issues here), he could not do a clean sweep

b. BJP's win in a southern state like Karnataka is so surprising. And it didnot get a single seat in neighbouring Andhra & i guess TN as well!!!

c. If we say, UPA came back to power because it ruled well in last 5 yrs, the fact is that they won about 45% seats even after taking 5 yrs to perform. On the other hand, BJP which is sitting in the opposition (and hence, does not have a chance to showcase its talent all these years), still did decently.

Indian electorate is maverick - remember Chandrababu & SM Krishna lost badly even after developing their respective states so well.

no i disagree that electorate is maverick..in fact it is knowledgeable...

it saw the prospect of an unstable govt
it voted against LKA as stronger than MMS
it voted against a polarising approach from bjp
it voted in up against maya's statues
it voted in bihar for good work of nitish
it voted for bjp in anticipation of good work in karnataka
it voted against left in kerala & WB

we underestimate the electorate as can be seen from most online comments and the disbelief at bjp's failure....the bjp would have won on the internet but lost badly on the ground!!!

I agree with some of ur comments (Nitish, Karnataka, stable govt). However, i think BJP has for last few years stopped being divisive (otherwise, they would have lost in a place like Bangalore). Secondly, the very fact that no one was able to guess the outcome, is a proof that Indian electorate is unpredictable. Someone unpredictable is never considered mature or objective.

It is a fractured mandate. Even Congress did not give itself more than 150 seats. But that how elections happen in democracy. What the voter thinks , you never know in India. All opinion polls, exit polls and media analysis gone for a toss.

With 2% more votes Congress got 61 more seats. This is very interesting. This is the mandate of the voters and one must respect the mandate. This is for 5 years.

The bruised and failed media is not accepting its defeat and trying to find various irrelevant conclusions from this elections to show that they are right. But the fact is that they are wrong.

With 2% more votes Congress got 61 more seats at the expense of third and 4th front. This is very interesting. But this is the mandate of the voters and one must respect the mandate. This is for 5 years.

In my view BJP could not make it to come in power because they are having diffrences in the party & do not have faith in each other. Allthough Advani could not make it to become priminister, yet I am sure that our next priminister would Narender Modi a dynamic leader who has, by his hard work & true dedication brought the Gujarat to the level of great proud in the world. Now Modi should not give up his might & should concentrate on the developement of his state which definetly would bring him to the level of priminister in next Lok sabha elections. Best of luck to Modi & his team.

The main reason for which BJP could not get through is its infighting, lack of leadership and implimentation of strategic alliance with its erstwhile parters.
It should have gone with BJD and AIADMK in the east and south, which could have given it a more number of seats.

People of India cannot have trust in BJP untill it shows a good viable leader and offers a good governance and leave the issues like construction of Ram temple... as a political party it should not have the agenda of construction of Ram temple. It should be agenda or VHP or any other non political organizations. I am wondering why everytime, BJP shoulder this issue. As long as they take up this issue and think that this will give votes its their foolishness.

Even now, Advani's comments on Left becoming scapegoat is irresponsible statement and as a leader of opposition he should not comment like this.

bjp tried for aliance with bjd,tdp and aiadmk but they did not came with bjp due to their fear that they loose muslim votes.bjp should try to lure muslims.ur suggestion is correct for ram temple.bjp did not raise ram temple issue but congress raised babri masjid issue so many times in this elections
