I am no fan of of DMK, but what does this jokers mean when they say "Can you imagine Pranab Mukherjee [Images] sitting next to Azhagiri in the Cabinet?" "he hardly knows English or Hindi". Does Lalu, Paswan etc. speak Malayalam or English ? these kind of chauvinism will creae more trouble in future. After all, what miracle has Pronob Mukri done

Ok...Lets actually imagine that...so I see an aged, seasoned politician with no criminal record, no record of political or academic achievement sitting along with a seasoned gangster having a rich criminal record. Now arent indians lucky to have two such people as their central ministers?

dear murali nair

you have to know at least hindi or english to work in a ministry..

how do you go along if you cannot speak any one of these languages..

these are none of my mother tongues, but if i insist on someone knowing only my mother tongue, is it possible to work..?

lalu, paswan are also jokers, but at least they knew hindi, so could get along..

Even I am not a fan of DMK. Its not about Language here. Every individual in Tamilnadu knows who Alagiri is and we all know he is not a fit for the Cabinate role and why do we have to fight for one like him. Its like we are digging our own grave by making him a Central Cabinate Minister. The DMK leader is very clever and he is scared about his party after his death. He is well aware that both his son will kill themselves and the party after his death. So Karunanadhi wants the elder son to play in the Center and the younger to play in the State so both are happy and as a whole the DMK party will live for little longer.
We people in Tamilnadu will be sailing in the same boat....God save this country.

MK Azhagiri

To know about MK Azhagiri - all you need to do is watch an average tamil movie that has one or two roles of corrupt / gangster politicians. It is shameful to even think of someone like this becoming a central minister. God save India!!

Indigestion for Linguistic Apologists
by Argumentative Indian on May 22, 2009 08:19 PM  | Hide replies

Some of these linguistic apologists are finding it hard to digest that a gentleman of such excellent standing, as the elder born, was denied his birth right (rite?) as in a Ministerial Berth.

They now cry about Congress' high handedness and hypocracy.

The winds of change have blown, Rahul has come of age. His actions are neither born of arrogance nor ignorance, but rather of the simple desire to provide Indians a clean government, as best as possible.

Sometimes, the simplicity of strategy is itself its strength.

Another issue is, Rahul, being largely unemployed in the recent past, toured the country extensively, and any campaigner anywhere, whether a politician or an FMCG salesman, will tell you, those with deep personal connections across the country are the hardest to beat.

Keep it Up.

India may yet make the transition from a developing to a developed nation in the next couple of decades.

Small correction - change "in the next couple of decades" to "in the next couple of centuries"

(by then the only developing nation I guess would be an island in Antartica)

Ok...So you are suggesting that the congress party can go to the biggest central prisons in India and do a campus recruitment for ministerial posts? This type of argument where you say "Everyone is corrupt - so why are the new comers be expected to be honest leaders?" is what keep India as a developing nation always and prevents us from being a developed nation.

If Congress has the guts, they can kick out DMK from coalition. But they can't . Their numbers will go down by 18. And their are bigger trouble makers ready to give support, So Congress is not a position to displease DMK.

The fact is that UPA with 262 seats(10 short of majority) and without DMK(18) would be very weak and will have to ask Maya, Jaya, Mulayam or Left to support them. All these people are historysheeeter blackmailers.

Congress can not complain as DMK and NCP are the only original allies who stood with Congress when others deserted.

Congress must give DMK proper respect. It seems that Congress is too happy over its increased strength that it has started treating its allies as bonded slaves.

The ECs may be aware of Thirumangalam.
Rahul Gandhi expects corruption free administration. The people of India wants alround progress. Ministers should be capable of getting things done through their knowledge of the subject.

Mr. Clean, started out as just that.
However, naivette and impatience are never virtues in politics and so he paid a price.

The son has come of age, with all his father's vision and values, and the patience, intelligence and strategy of the Sicilian.

The son has come of age.

The father's killer now lies unsung in a grave in a far off land.

The son has inherited the father's vision, not his naivette.

Ks views and Congress predicament
by Raghavendra Ravi on May 22, 2009 07:35 PM  | Hide replies

K thinks that anybody from his family has a divine right to rule ( It is another matter that he does not believe in god - but believes in Tamil Goddess !). He wants ministries for all his children and grand children - through 3 wives. His daughter is a poetess - so he would have us believe - where is the body of work to prove it? His Madurai son is a thug - known thug - he openly distributed money in Madurai and Election commission, which is impotent, knows about it.

Blatant voting irregularities in TN - TN has no business to compare itself with Bihar, Jharkhand etc.. They are all far better.

The government of India / UPA / Congress have all compromised by accepting thugs of K / a party which took away 60000 cr in spectrum deal and some body who wanted to build no roads, but only Sethu Samudram / a person who has two wives and says what is wrong in favouring his children - in the open parliament and Somnathda sat watching this nonsense....

Ask them - they will tell you that they did all this to keep "communal forces" out of power - but they will align themselves with Muslim league, they will give concessions to muslims and christians and yet call themselves secular. God save India

If Congress has the guts, they can very well drop DMK from UPA.

The fact is that Congress is not a position to lose DMK.So, DMK and all other allies of UPA have upper hand.

These fools are fighting over one cabinet berth as if their life is at stake if that berth is given to a particular MP. Why bother? Your life is not going to change if Azhagiri or another dumbo congress MP gets that berth.
