DMK

In the interest of nation congress should not yield to DMKs pressure. it should snub DMKs blackmail tactics. Let MMS choose clean, honest people, it will help congress in future. Balu, Kani, Azagri should learn ABCD of serve to people.

this is congress' tactic.
by Rathna on May 22, 2009 06:10 PM  | Hide replies

First the congress should know one thing. They fared badly in TN, because of their handling of the tamils cause in Sri Lanka. The congress won most of the seats in TN in the southern districts. Azhagiri was the one who was responsible for their victory. Didn't they know that he was uneducated or doesn't know to speak english or hindi, before??

Out of very few allies, DMK was the one which treated congress with utmost respect giving them 16 seats in TN, but this is the treatment congress is giving back.

DO YOU CONSIDER YIELDING TO ARM TWISTING AND BLACK MAILING IS A GOOD TRAIT ?
NO, CONGRESS SHOULD NOT TAKE ANY CORRUP MPs IN THE CABINET EVEN FROM CONGRESS RANKS. ARJUN SINGH IS SACKED VERY GOOD.

It is ridiculous to think goondas like Azhigiri should be made a central minister. At a time when we have a PM who is trying to form a government of honest ministers, inducting persons like Azhigiri or T R Balu will be like placing a rotten apple in a basket of good apple. Thank god today congress is in a commanding position and is not dependent on parties like DMK for its survival. If DMK tries something funny then it knows very well, its minority government in the state which is existing because of congress support will collapse.

It is not the question of giving back, the DMK should understand the importance of good governance and simply not yield to family pressures and ask congress to include each and every family member. Also to head an important portfolio at the centre one needs to have exposure in administration and understand the nuances of the department. Blackmailing doesnot yield results always.

This is very very sad.
When people like Sonia, Rahul, Priyanka, et al can shun ministerial posts, why is the Grand Old Kalaignar of TN politics insisting on such blatant nepotism?
After all, who, really, are Azhagiri and Kanimozhi. Even a few years ago, Azhagiri was bitterly fighting against KK and his son Stalin. If Kalaignar wants to "reward" the return of his prodigal son, he can arrange for him within TN politics where, his lack of other languages notwithstanding, he could prove himself to his people like Stalin did.
The same goes for Kanimozhi too. They are both young, and need not be cabinet ministers immediately without the faintest idea of knowing the ropes.
I'm not sure whether lack of languages, or having pending/unconvicted criminal cases against people are really a "bar" to our good souls becoming ministers and legistators ... at least in the Indian context. Though quite a few must be naively believing that it should be so. It can ONLY be so when we, the people of India, start taking our citizen's rights more responsibly, including standing in such elections and shutting out such illiterate, uneducated, immoral, irresponsible timeservers from getting elected.
Your views?

No, i just want to say that don't the congress be clear before they strike an alliance itself? If they had been clear earlier, this issue wouldn't have come up. After having winning good amount of seats with one's support, behaving like this sounds awkward. I am not supporting anyone in this case, just telling the tactics that congress is playing..

Cong's different rules
by Subramani Raman on May 22, 2009 06:07 PM  | Hide replies

Ok, Congress doesn't want to offer ministership to Kanimozhi or Azhagiri because they are first time MPs. But how was Dayanidhi Maran made minister in 2004, when he, too, was first time MP? And what about Anbumani of PMK? And is it true that it is Congress that is insisting Dayanidhi should be made a minister this time?? Daal mein zaroor kuch kala hain!!!

I think, the point is Azhagiri and Kanimozhi both have no qualifications and one of them is a well known criminal. Instead of saying this so openly, some other reasons are given. DMK needs congress more in TN for the next assembly election. TN people always tend to vote differently for the parliment and assembly elections.

absolutely no need of DMK
by sethu madhavan on May 22, 2009 06:05 PM

The best option for congress would be to dislodge the 18 seat stake of DMK, quit alliance with it and gradually make up for this up though independents.

It is suffering for the effrontery it displayed before elections by trying to rope in the cunning, machiavellian nitish kumar who is a part of evil set up of BJP under the pretext of "secularism".

tHIS APART THE CONGRESS HAS TO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT THE DARK HISTORY OF DMK, MUCH THE SAME WAY AS BJP IT ALSO CONSPIRES THROUGH GREED AND ENVY TO ESTABLISH THE LIE AS TRUTH. ITS CONNECTION WITH LTTE IS WELL KNOWN. THE BEST OPTION WOULD BE TO AVOID SUCH ELEMENTS IN GOVT FOR ANOTHER 50 YEARS

Who is real politician
by guptaapsn on May 22, 2009 06:03 PM  | Hide replies

A person who doest care which portfolio he is getting and not getting. If he is really interested to serve the nation, he will fit for any ministry. But this Parties are demanding/Black mailing the centre for money lending ministries. Why can't Rahul appoint Bureaucrats as Rajya Sabha members and give them the above valuable ministries to avoid corruption
