Rahul, Stephen is partially correct. Suman was a trend setter marking the neo-revival of Bengali songs. But he spoiled his talents by indulging in most unacceptable social acts, which derogated him and refrained him from moving ahead, from where he started. He is a lost case and now , therefore, he switched over to politics to restablish himself. But u never know about these talented guys. He might come good(?)

Loose Character
by Andrew Stevens on May 18, 2009 04:37 PM  | Hide replies

What is not mentioned above is that Kabir Suman is also a womaniser. He kept changing his religion, so that he could marry. He is already married four times. He was always punch drunk during election meetings and falling off his chair. Everyone in his constituency knows all the above. The only reason he was given a ticket was because he serenaded the Didi and she practically campaigned and won the seat for him. It's a shame that such people are inflicted on the electorate. Still I'm glad that at least his win helped the Congress give a secure govt.

this article sounds like as if the enemy are the gates and the 300 soldiers of sprata are ready to unleash a brave fight against the bad guys, the communists.

suddenly the election losers are turned into bad guys and each one of them is termed in the lines of saddam, pinochet, milosevic.

shame on your unbalanced views.

Left

Left have lost touch with the mass long time back (at least in WB),all they have done in Bengal (apart from land reforms in the first few years)is killing opposition party supporters (about 30000), closing industry (about 50000 small, medium and large scale), abolishing English (for 15 years after which they have realized the mistake and reintroduced English) and making a mockery of democracy where the district heads of CPM were given more power that DM (District Magistrate). And overall the left ideology is to support China in all respect, CPIM should be renamed as " Chinese Party of India-Marxist"

Good real true comments on left activities for the last many years. Another thing I would add is harassing common people withot reason if you are not a CPI-M supporter. And this way they have ruined the state in every field. As early as they are kicked out from bengal it is better. Already too late. And put more army and take necessary steps during next election so that CPI-M can't do any rigging what they used to do. CPI-M win seat by rigging only. The people of bengal is not with them.

Enough was enough is the message in the mouth of common people of West Bengal.

People - both in rural as well as in urban areas are tired and angry with Left front for their double standardness.

1) On one hand the WB Govt. talks about Govt. talk of industrialisation and developement, on the other hand, a) see the pathetic conditions of roads in and around Kolkata, b) entry & exit to Howrah Stn and Sealdah Stn. chaotic and dirty, c) No broad and clear raods in Kolkata,

2) No plan to reopen so many closed industries in Howrah, Barrackpore and in other parts of the state.

3) People in villages of Purulia, Bankura, Birbhum and other villages do no get two meals in a day.

4) Misuse of Funds for the Mid-day meals of poor school children ( under the central Govt. scheme ) by the boards run by the left.

5) The Central Govt. scheme for the upliftment of poors and down trodden are not being properly implemented by the State. Only people owing allegance to Left get some benefits - others don't.

6) On one hand they critise US and West, for every small little things, but keeps mum in the matter related with China.

7) With 60 odd seats in the last Lok Sabha, they were dictating terms w/o taking any responsibility.

THE LEFT PARTIES SHOULD EITHER IMPROVE THEMSELVES OR FACE A WIPE OUT IN THE COMING ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS IN W.B.

* Communist leaders in India are real hypocrites.
* They advocate anti-capitalism to Indians.
Almost all Communist leaders in India have sent their sons and daughters to America as immigrants in the pretext of higher studies.

How to dissect the verdict?
by sundar on May 18, 2009 04:03 PM  | Hide replies

Surely mandate for COngress and UPA.
But did country want it that way? Perhaps No.

Rajasthan voted for Congress without worrying how other states would vote.
Andhra perhaps voted to prevent telengana formation (state getting split)
Kerala had no choice but to vote Congress to dump the Left.
Bengal voted TC and COngress to dump the left.
Delhi voted Congress for Shielaji and also for BJP has not woken up as yet.
Maharashtra voted 50-50
Tamilnadu voted for DMK owing to money. Earn the ilegal way to the tune of 10000 crores and spend 100 crores of it to win 18 Lok sabha seats..

way to go..
