how will you fix rigging of electronic voting machines and give Dalit the rights to have their own PM.
Dalits don't want crumbs on their face, they need dalit PM.
Dalit needs paper ballots RE-ELECTION so Chawla types don't rig Electronic voting machines that are easy to rig.

you are a crook and stupid to write like this. People have voted out castism this time. People have voted out Money this time. Now indian voters are turning mature... only now we should stop these politicians from not eating money like grass....

Finally, people have given their verdict to dalit daughter who dreamt of becoming a PM.

Crorepati M.Ps
by vijaya vittal on May 18, 2009 07:29 AM

When the government gets a proposal from any department for increase of salaries it is put to acid test, delayed at several stages(redtapism),and put several queries before it is finally agreed or DISAGREED even if it is a paltry rise in such wages. But when it comes to revision of perks ,daily wages allowances to M.Ps there is absolutely no opposition .or discussion or any protest it is just passed OVERWHELMINGLY by all the 542 M.Ps in Chorus..sorry by these Crorepathi M.Ps. What is the cost of holding a days session of parliament to the ex.chequer? But do you ever find atleast 100-200 M.Ps on any given day? It may be aguinnes record if all the 543 MPs attend on any given day..Almost all. barring a few duty minded parliamentarians are busy with their busineses, other personal work in their towns ,villages..AGAIN they no citizen will have any acess to any of them ..may be a few after the elections..Largest Democracy in the world..God save my Country

Congress I 2009 Election Manifesto
by Rohit sharma on May 18, 2009 06:58 AM  | Hide replies

The empowerment of the weaker sections of society — scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, OBCs, minorities and women — has been an article of faith with the Indian National Congress. This will be carried forward
with emphasis on education, particularly skill-based and professional education.
Education at all stages — primary, secondary and university — will be free in all respects for boys and girls belonging to dalit and adivasi communities.
Coaching fees for all entrance exams for at least one lakh scheduled caste/scheduled tribe students every year will be paid by the Central Government. National scholarships for boys and girls belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes will be further increased.
The Indian National Congress will also make a beginning to induct youth into organs of government.
As a beginning, it will reserve a proportion of seats in panchayats and nagarpalikas for men and women below the age of 35 years without detriment to the existing reservations for scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, OBCs and women.
An unprecedented special drive was launched by the Prime Minister and over 53,000 vacancies in
government have been filled through direct recruitment or promotion of members belonging to scheduled castes and scheduled tribes. This drive will continue.

Fake certificates in the market
by Bhupinder Singh on May 18, 2009 06:52 AM

Although, me too, belong a super class sc Sikh, like Boota Singh, however, sins to be exposed. All Maharastrians possess some or other kinds of fake reservation certificates which they use in other states and various professional colleges. Even, their Brahmins possess sc certificate and get all sorts of benefits from other states. In every 10 Maharastrian families, you will find one freedom fighter. There was a time when Nehru and Patel empowered some of their own people to issue these certificates. During that time, these fake certificates were issued at random in these states, specially, Bihar, UP, Punjab and Maharastra. Today, we could feel the reflection of that corruption from their fiscal status.

Congress rigged EVMs to win elections
by P B on May 18, 2009 06:09 AM  | Hide replies

Look at results ..
Delhi - 7/7
Haryana - 9/10
Rajasthan - 20/24
AP - 32/42
TN - 28/39

Also they rigged voting in some other states with help of EC.
Current CEC was castigated by previous CEC as congi chaploos.
Remember same thing was tried in 2004 as well.
The CEC at that time M.S Gill was made Sports minister in UPA govt. after he retired as CEC.

There should be repolling in all states with independent observers

helo Why not have repoll in Gujarat & MP -congress got about 50% of votes here also. CEC is CEC for these areas as well. Can we stop talking such non sense. If you have been following the developments- BJP CEC - had said Varun Gandhi spit more hatred and venom in the speeches made by Varun than what wsa actually seen from portions of speech telecast. Do you accept the findings of BJP CEC.

Varun actually helped consolidating *minority* vote behind Congress in UP.

Plus Rahul and Priyanka helped consolidate other votes. It was three youngsters from the dynasty that made UP Congress revival a reality.

Pls do not crib. Even BJP had the grace to accept defeat - they have conducted themselves in an exemplory manner (an image contrary to what all opponents and media has been projecting them as - a monster).

I am no congress supporter or bjp suporter but supporter of stable india. Who governs is not an issue - I hope this mandate would give the Congress to strengthen India. Please do not let down the people the way Rajiv did after receiveing a solid mandate.

Manmohan if given a free hand would definitely achieve something. I hope the win for Congress transalates as a win for India.

Imperfect democracy - tyranny of 543
by Sharad on May 18, 2009 04:19 AM  | Hide replies

India is a CORRUPT DEMOCRACY, with a total DISREGARD FOR LAW. It is a country of laws in name only. All the laws are ONLY ON PRINTED PAPER. They never get ENFORCED. This is because ELECTED REPRESENTATIVES are IN CHARGE OF GOVT as well as JUDICIARY.

Elected leaders PASS THE LAWS, RUN THE GOVT as well as APPOINT THE JUDGES. There is no segregation of POWER. They hold all the power. That's why THEY ARE CORRUPT and ABOVE LAW.

Indian consitution should be CHANGED. The PRESIDENT should run the GOVT and should be elected by people directly. The MPs should ONLY PASS LAWS. They should not run the Govt. The president should recommend the appointment of Judges, but approved by LEGISLATIVE or BETTER STILL, the PEOPLE should ELECT THE JUDGES too.

The people should elect all three branches of Govt (Legislative, Judiciary and Executive) SEPARATELY. The power should be equally distributed to these three branches of Govt. The two of these three should be able to dismiss (impeach) the third for CORRUPTION. The PEOPLE should be ABLE TO RECALL all of the three branches.

India is an imperfect democracy where the citizens are not active, and they have only limited power.

It is a tyranny of 543 people over the lives of 1.2 billion.

Corrupt Indian politicians
by chandra rao on May 18, 2009 04:03 AM  | Hide replies

In India I think majority of people enter politics to make money. They have no intention of serving for other people. As long as they can fill in their pockets they would be happy. Its a shameful thing to say being an Indian but the whole system is so very corrupt. If any one really wants to do and has a vision to remove the bane of Indian political system the peole wont vote for him/her. People fall for silly schemes and cast their valuable vote.
I come from AP and I wont be surprised if AP MPs are the richest lot. I have heard about the recent Health Insurance scheme for the poor which has become a source of making money for the corporate Hospitals and for the politians it gave them votes. What I dont understand is instead of paying the corporate hospitals why does the Government not use that money to improve the Government Hospitals. In my recent visit to Hyderabad people were praising the new Health Scheme but when I went to the Government Hospital I felt only those who do not want to live anymore should go to those hospitals! But people fall for those sort of schemes and corrupt polititians use that to their benefit.
I read an interesting article on rediff about Black money in Swiss Bank. If the Government believes in getting rid of corruption they should try to get that money and put the corrupt ones to shame. But they wont do that.
I feel I am wasting my time writing all this because it wont change!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ARUN JAIN
NEW GOVERNMENT
by ARUN JAIN on May 18, 2009 02:48 AM

The last over 60 years have seen the country passing through varied stages and phases. Development on one hand, Corruption and personal agendas on the other. Lack of vision and a clear National perspective on development, infrastructure, rooting out evils be it corruption, illiteracy, poverty or unemployment;crushing terrorism or be it law & order ,women empowerment or getting rid of evils of atrocities, dowry : we have seen new evils springing up like hate, ragging, sacrificing merit, spread of castism, a divide & so on. Lot of money has gone down the drain & lot of money stands pumped out into foreign based tax havens including Swiss Bank. We need radical electrol changes, law reforms, massive changes in labour and criminal laws, strengthening entrepreneurial base, generation of wealth through healthier methods, practical & healthy taxation laws, plugging wastages & pilferages ,laying national priorities & a strong consensus approach on several National issues gathering dust. Our Country can grow steadfast & for this we also need good & healthy politics, strong Discipline & Nationalism. Hate must substitute for unity in actions, our dreams & thoughts may be different. We must analyse the harm done so far & by a honest SWOT analysis bring about radical & positive changes for efficient & effective governance, minimal interferences down sizing for efficiency & cost reduction.National issues & state subjects need to be relooked upon and redefined. We must shun vote bank politics
