everyone had the same reaction as yours when claims were made that indira rigged the election... until the high court upheld the suspicion. this is not new for congress.

no rigging this time ... all fair ... NDA has been rejected by the people of India ... NDA is the new trash - discarded
In democracy the electoral battles are necessary, but we need to fight with right means, for only then there is good value creation, both in terms of social well being and material wealth.
Here the stance of opposition has veered away towards indiscipline and needless fear mongering. This only dilutes the cause of opposing. Two examples, one for indiscipline and another for avoidable speculation.
The quote attributed to Karl Marx is a wrong one. The reference in it is about history repeating itself as farce. --- “History repeats itself, first as tragedy, second as farce.” --- It would have better though if he had used the old word "farse".
The second example is doubting the efficacy about EVM's. To express genuine doubts better to think like an Engineer and make sound technical points about design and process defects. This kind of doubting would have probably been even ok prior to election but now it can only be seen as fearmongering which undermines the institutions of democracy.
There are real reasons to fear about the risks and threats inherent in this UPA government. It is necessary to focus on those alone in a realistic, constructive and effective fashion.
Secular people of India sent a strong message to BJP that BJP's ideology will never work. This is a secular country and your commula hatred, devide people on the basis of religion , makking Rathyatra to communalise and provoke voilence, lieing on Priminister as soft on Terrorist, creating Varun drama for political gain, raising again and again Ram mandir promises all these BJP failed agendas, bring BJP down to earth. Only because of Mr Vajapaye BJP got a mandate, that mandate was not for BJP that because of Vajapye - he was a good leader in bad party. Now Advani should retire from politics. BJP do not have future because Rahul Gandhi will be taking BJP in 2014 and no one can stop him. Congress is getting his old flavour and pride then there is no chance to BJP at all. I advise BJP leaders find some other parties and join them because Congress need a strong opposition to so that they can work better.
I can imagine Srinivasan's disappointment that his favorites Modi and Mayavathi did not get majority and BJP will never come to power in the near future. Blame it on vote machine fraud!! hmmm But to argue that anyone other than UPA would make India a superpower is a nonsense. BJP had power for five years, what did they do? Our parliament was attacked under Advani. He freed terrorists to Mullahs. So much for security!! People like Srinivasan are living in a fools paradise. How can we become a super power when two third of our population still live in abject poverty. We dont have good roads or infrastructure. BJP-the Indian Taliban with a stone age fundamentalist philosophy and divisive politics cannot bring progress to India. Its a shame that intelligent people like Srinivasan utter such lunacies.

Poor Rajeev Srinivasan, how could you dare say, "2009 will mark the rapid decline of India." Is Modi or Advani better than Dr. Manmohan Singh? Look at their educational qualification. You find Advanis and Modis all over India...
You cry foul simply because yours favourites are not winning.
Educated H1ndu fundam3ntalist like Rajeev Srinivasan does not deserve a space in Rediff anymore. Cry Mr. Srinivasan, there's nothing left for you!!

It is better to express oneself within the knowledge limit he has. Before coining the word Tliban, stone age etc., better try to know about our/your own history and then comment Mr. Babu.

I think Babu ws right on the Taliban part. He said Indian Taliban, not Taliban. The similarity of the sangh outfits with taliban is unmistakable.
Srinivasan is getting paranoid, Like Stalin who thought every other Russian was spying on him , so he got them shot by the firing squad. This is India man. Open your eyes and see for yourself what happened to the commies all over the world. People are not that stupid as your so called leaders think they are. Here also it is the beginning of the end. Just wait and watch. good luck.

How dre you call Karntaka an uneducated state, I doubt you have sound knowledge of politics and state affairs. To your knid information, BJP bagged 3 out of 4 seats in Bangalore city alone! If we go according to your comment, 75% of Blore city people are uneducated backward/tribal/OBC people!!

Delhi went to congress for the good work that Sheila Dixit did. The Only and only reason for Congress win in mumbai was MNS. Had ir not been for MNS, BJP-SS would have sweeped all the seats. The present congress government in Maharashtra is the worst government the state had since independence. No exaggeration here.
I am happy that someone could get the majority and there will be no hung government atleast. In this recession time, we need a stable government who can rule till next election (after 5 years). I am niether a BJP supporter nor Congress or any other party but love to see a government which takes care of country's growth, economy and development. This is the need of the hour. If we have to claim that we are going to be the economy superpowers of next decade , we need some concrete effort from the elected party.

I have similar thoughts on the matter. But, I do not believe that the UPA has the guts to take strong action. I have observed the increase of corruption during the last five years. And this is not just limited to the UPA ruled states. But the Central Government could well have taken steps in this regard. At least they ask the CBI to check the contracts awarded by the previous Government. This in itself will act against corruption. But now there is no chance for another five years.

How do you explain that 37% of BJP's elected MPs are criminals compared to 19% from INC?
I am not an INC fan either, but people accept the freaking verdict and move on.
