BJP should remind themselves of what Vajapayee said five years ago, "We have lost an election, but not our determination." Those who work for the country with determination will eventually win. This was not the last election. Winning 160 seats is still some achievement.

the foolish hind us who voted for her think they have voted for secularism. Secularism means making the minorities secure. The manifesto itself speaks of reservation for minorities.the guys who voted didn't realy read it.
Further people who were supposed to lose like chidambaram so not mush could be done by the voters. We need impartial US observers for our elections.
Another election and another crazy parliament formed by the world's largest democraZy.
Highlights of our democraZy
* Out of 1.2 Billion citizens on an average only 60% of eligible voters casted their vote. * Almost each constituency we had nearly 10 candidates splitting the 60% votes among themselves in various ratios. * If this fragmentation is not enough, we saw many political parties helped their opponents by splitting the vote against them. Like Maharashtra Navnirman Sena helps Congress/NCP in Maharashtra by splitting anti-Congress and pro-BJP votes. Vijaykanth's DMDK splits anti-DMK and pro-AIADMK votes thus helping DMK. But these splitters normally won't get any seats but we can't conclusively say that they don't 'any other benefit' out of it all. * Shameless Congress, Left, RJD and other buffoons single point agenda is just to ensure "communal" BJP not comes to power. To achieve this the "secular" Congress never hesitates to lick the feet of "secular" Indian Union Muslim League.
If you put together all these things together what we get is
* On an average a Member of Parliament gets elected 25-30% of casted votes which is only 60% of electorate, it means the MP represents only 18% voters of the constituency and the person is NOT the choice of remaining 82% voters.

* Then MPs thus elected becomes part of a pre-poll alliance which gets 40-50% seats in the parliament. The win/lead seats of UPA is 257 when this blog is written which is just 47% and their vote share is meagre 33%. Again if you apply the same logic 67% voters are NOT in favor of UPA but they are having difference of opinion in the alternative. * To ice the cake, after all these crazy things the Prime Minister of India will be air-dropped in the parliament thro' Rajya Sabha via Assam. * Then we call this as people's mandate and the usual dialogue of losers that they accept the people's verdict. What a democraZy.
There are certain good things happened in this election which definitely will help the country in the long run. The annihilation of Left, Mayawati, Laloo Prasad Yadav, Ram Vilas Paswan, Vaiko, Ramdoss and some extent Mulayam, Jayalalitha and their pipe dream of 3rd, 4th, ... nth fronts.
Ok, we took a hard look at the problem then what is the solution. We need electoral reforms badly to fix this big issue.
* Voting is mandatory. Failing that attracts 10% more income tax for the next 5 years, freezing of passport, ration card and driving license for the same period * Fixed term for Parliament like US and unlike UK * Fixed term for Assembly but the same has to be dissolved and the state should be placed under President rule for the last 30 days before elections for the next term

* Governments can be brought down but alternate should be formed within the Parliament * Two rounds of polling for at least Parliament and Assembly elections. In the first round any number of candidates can try their luck. But in the second round the top two should fight it out and the winner must have at least 51% to win the seat * No post poll alliance will be allowed. If no party gets majority then a national government has to be formed under the collective leadership of the top two largest parties and gradually move towards two party system * Ultimate option will be Presidential form of governance by which the President directly elected by people, who in turn can appoint right candidates for right posts. Unlike, last time when we had AK Antony a man who cannot spend half an hour in Siachen as Defence minister
Till all these reforms made to reality the duty of every citizen is to exercise their right of voting and ensure that only national parties got elected to elected and 'letter pad parties' wiped out
Let Sri Krishna bless India at least the next time to have a party with majority and the Prime Minister with guts to get elected from Lok Sabha.
