We got 2500 from DMK for five votes from our household in Madurai. We wanted to reject it, but we are scared about those gundas. If they loose, they will ransack our house. We won't vote for them anyway even after getting money.

Are you mad to say Congress men fools, what wrong they have done to you. Let BJP get a majority, no problem. But what if UPA again is in cradle? Will BJPs wise men will weep all through the five years, shoud not at all, I advise, rather they should behave and act as a constructive and rightful opposition.

Think about your country first if you are an Indian and let the Sri Lankan decide their fate. If still concerned, you are free to relocate to Sri Lanka and serve that country...

Then why should manmohan concern about the taxes for sikhs in pakistan.? They belong to pakistan. Why should then interfere in pakistan internal issues?
At last, this year's election has come to an end. The people of the largest democracy of the world have taken part in the act of government-forming. Naturally, some parties will win, and some others will lose. However, we, the people of India, will look for the followings from our political parties: 1 - Those who will win and form government will try to implement the rule of law with a view to developing our country and our people 2 - Those who will lose will act as constructive opposition, letting the rulers know their faults by acting as the government's conscience 3 - Most importantly, there will be sincere efforts to put an end to caste-based and communal politics

Yes. You are correct. When we the voters dutifully and with thinking casts our votes it surely will happen. We, the people are scolding the politicians for all our short comings.

Hi Ray
do you think this could happen in India....who wins this time makes more moeny ...who lose this time wait for his turn to come.........most importantly politicians never change in India....half of their life goes to stick to CHAIR and rest is to make MONEY...................
Re: Re: Re: Re: At last!!

We should appreciate the positive and responsible writing of Mr. Ray. Excellent, thought provocative.

Of course politics is rampant with corruption. But we have to admit India has emerging as a strong global leader in spite of all odds because of its strong democratic character and so far the politicians, whether corrupt or not do not even touch or alter that character. And even for their corrupt practices the responsibility lies squarely with us, the voters than others.
It is very surprising to note that around 35% turnout in TN.Is TN going backward. When neighbouring states AP and Karnataka is crossing 60 to 70% why TN is lagging behind. Is tamilnadu people are less bothered about CENTRE. Hope they come out of the narrow mentalities and start hoping for the country.VOTE the best among the worest.

Raje renga- please do read before shouting hear, the joker above has not commented on "south India" not voting, he has commented on the TN numbers only and said it is higher in neighbouring states- it's a different matter that he does not have the IQ to realise that the TN figures are only the polling figures till noon. So can you stop shouting now about south Indians being wronged ?

Oye G master- that is polling till noon- read properly and then comment, must not be from TN if you cannot read !
Well.hereafter this message board should not see any comments written by people who did not cast their vote..First lets do our duty then blame the rest...Sitting in A/c rooms and just analysing and criticising other never helps!Only who have voted have the rights to talk!
Re: No more complaints
by Manoj K on May 13, 2009 05:04 PM
In democratic country everyone has not put the vote. For example if your job place is away from 300 km can you go to put vote to your place by expending money NO. If we have time we put the vote. similarly Every one has the right to talk in this independent country whether sitting in a/c room or road.
Re: Re: No more complaints
by svthuhil on May 13, 2009 05:10 PM
i do agree what u say..shuld they be 300kms away on job and circumstances demand -then its ok...but my point is Voting is must-if u dunt like candidate then go n cast 49-O.In democracy we only keep taking thats the problem..LETS ACT!
Re: Re: No more complaints
by Nitin Jain on May 13, 2009 05:25 PM
You are correct friend. One can't travel 300 kms for voting but what about those who enjoy holiday, go for outing on the day of poling? I am very sure, 50% of Indian population is not away from their native or the place where there name exists in the voters list.
Re: Re: No more complaints
by Haramohan Ray on May 13, 2009 05:08 PM
Mr Manoj, please try to appreciate the spirit of what Guest has said. He has not said to take away the right to speak, he has only said that it is necessary to take part in the election as a voter, and that it is irresponsible to criticise while not taking part as a voter. Indeed, a person who willingly decides not to vote has no moral right to speak about the failure of any government, because he willingly abandoned his right to choose a government.
