Most misused words: secular, communal, progressives ...
by Pankaj Kumar on May 12, 2009 08:24 PM  | Hide replies

These terms such as “secular”, “communal” etc are pure outdated terms coined from Britain. In India, they have been misused so badly that they don't have value and relevance! How can the Congress, which supports only Christians and Muslims, be a secular party? This Con party has alliance with Kerala Xians and Muslim parties! How can these religous parties be secular?

Lok Sabha Elections-2009
by cm dhingra on May 12, 2009 07:59 PM  | Hide replies

I have been a great admirer of CHO since my college days. But his realistic approach and fair analysis is missing in this Article. He seems to have been obsessed with Tamil Politics so much so that he came to a hypothetical conclusion of declaring that BJP will emerge as single largest party. It seems his analysis is based on the fact that DMK will loose many seats so the Congress will also loose. But he has failed to keep in mind that Tamil Nadu is not India and Congress can increase its voteshare in other parts of the country also. Had he travelled somewhere in UP,Rajasthan,Haryana,Punjab,Orissa & West Begal and felt the pulse of situation himself, he could have presented somewhat real picture. Most important thing is that nowadays Voters are getting smarter after facing so frequent elections and they won't easily divulge, what is in their minds and whom they have voted for.It is only from the Publicity Stunts of Political Paries, the media people just make an assessment and analysis about the outcome of election. So wait till 16th May and you will come face to face with many unexpected realities.

THey are losing BIG BIG in AP (lose 15-18), (all 10) TN, (-10 along with NCP) Maharastra, (-7) Jarkhand. They will pick 7-8 seats in Rajasthan, 1-2 in WB, 3-4 in Punjab, up to 10 in Kerala and will not pick up any more seats in UP. They will lose further ground in Karnataka, Gujarat, MP ... not a lot but enough to offset tehir gains. So overall Congress will be in 120-130 range.

My dear friend, our Constitution specifically provides that our country will be a Secular Nation. Whichever party rules the country or its States has to behave and perform in a secular way. But only to win elections and continue to rule, political parties have found the tool of appeasing policies of promising Quota System to various sections of society. This is the greatest evil for our country.

I agree with Anil.Secularism is the most misunderstood and misused word in India. The Con party of India and its ulta pulta Alliance are the worst casteist and communal ones, but profess to be secular. The only truly secular party, the BJP is accused of being communal. This is the bizarre state of the politics in this country!

BJP is not secular and so are not all other parties. If you hate BJP it is just because BJP fights for the cause of Hindus! You can keep voting for congress and keep hating BJP. BJP will grow as long as we have fundamentalistic freaks like you!

Congress commits a Historical Mistake in Srilanka
by Senthil Kumar on May 12, 2009 04:11 PM

If ADMK Sweeps the poll, then its the mistake on the part of Congress only. Congress could have stop the war in Srilanka but it doesn't show any interest becos it revolves around single Lady which she want to take revenge against LTTE at the cost of innocent lives. It would have feel one day for committing its histtorical mistake but that time the whole Tamil population have been destroyed by the senseless lankan army.

The well is very close to the well near Karunanidhi from where Non-Brahmins like you go to draw water from. It has a tinge of salt because you Non-Brahmins (or Non-Believers in God) in Tamil Nadu are deprived of pure drinking water. Grow up from your narrow-mindedness and you also shall have the privilege of drinking pure water like other people outside your bigoted State. Try believing in God and you also shall be blessed with pure drinking water.
