May be there is something wrong that this guy is not been understood properly. What is wrong, when he asks for small family of all indians? Also, when he asks for punishment of traitors?
Population growth is the biggest problem. Often urban, cosmopolitan and financially well people tend to have less children and late marriages, while relatively deprived communities tend to produce more, irrespective of education level. This is an anamoly and destroys the progress made as the more urban centres we create the greater influx from rural areas, especially Bimaru states, and all the infrastructure and resources are soaked up. This can be seen in Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Nagpur, Lucknow, Indore, Kolkatta, Chennai everywhere. One reason is lack of entertainment and monotonous life and economic activity can help curb population growth. Since forced sterlisation may not be feasible and fair, now that DNA testing is possible, there shud be strict punishment for having more than 2 legitimate kids and even more so for shamelessly producing and dumping the gift of God. It will also keep social balance, improve moral sense and DNA profiling can help build a data bank of citizens and used for improving their health and curb infiltration also. Sorry if I sound a bit rash, but no leadership and no development policy can succeed unless population is monitored. We dont need a competition of human production with China, we need a healthy wealthy and wise India.
Re: Varun Gandhi wants to revive Sanjay's sterilisation policy

Varun Gandhi will be the main reason behind the to-be spectacular defeat of BJP this time
This is one issue which I think previous governments should have addressed sensibly. As usual they pretend not to be seen. If tackled earlier we would have been in a much better position. With a creaking infrastructure and limited resources we are struggling and corruption rules. Varun had rightly pointed it out. The Indian press is making a demon out of him. I jut read the calification from the The Telegraph for whome the interview was given. He actually said the population control policy should be revived with out the shoddy manner it was implemented by his father. Is n't it correct and timely? I wonder is the Indian press really independant?

Although a legally enforcable and socially equitable method is still not in place, it is definitely a very grave issue and if properly addressed, can solve lot of problems of the country. Hopefully, some party or govt will come with a sensible policy on the same.
As per the Daily Telegraph Varun's quote unquote statement is
"Mr Gandhi said that while the methods used by the government at that time were "roughshod" and considered by many to be "too forceful", he still believed India's population "explosion" required urgent action He supports a softer approach of financial incentives to persuade Indians to have fewer children"
So rediff please stop defaming the guy and apologise for your wrong information and issue a clarification that's the least we can expect from a responsible media company like yours
