Nandini Venkat
Chennai South
by Nandini Venkat on May 12, 2009 09:13 PM

There are a total of 44 candidates from Chennai South this time.Besides candidates from major parties,a number of independent candidates including the famous Sarath Babu and Mr. N.S.Venkataraman,a well known social activist, who is backed by Mahatma Gandhi's former personal secretary Mr. V. Kalyanam. It is believed that South Chennai is a brahmin dominated constituency. In terms of numbers, it has one of the largest brahmin base among all constituencies in Tamil Nadu. However, in the constituency, the voting majority are by no means Brahmins. It is also reported that there are a total of four brahmin contestants and they are expected to split the votes. The notion of capturing the brahmin bastion is ironcal. Brahmins are said to be a forward caste and so called elites. One would think that with their "enlightened mind",caste would be the least consideration in their choice. The problem with so many independent candidates is that votes are likely to get fragmented and there is no united front to effectively oppose the corruption, nepotism and dirty ways of business of the major political parties including DMK,ADMK and BJP.It would have been very helpful to the voters to make a decision, if some of the major independent candidates had dropped out in the interest of one candidate and thrown their weight behind that person.I guess that is democracy and that is one reason why it is getting so hard to expel the corrupt elements. Some independents who have good ideas often become also rans.

Bye Bye DMK, ADMK & CONGRESS
by Shanmuganandan on May 12, 2009 10:40 AM

With the entry of the Kongunadu Munnetra Peravai (KNMP) into the election fray, the action in some constituencies in Coimbatore belt has taken an interesting turn. The contest in the 12 constituencies is a case in point. All major parties have so far campaigning, but the one who is going to eat into the votes of the major political parties is the KNMP which is espousing the cause of the community.

After the state govt had neglected the Kongu (Coimbatore) region for a long time in development aspects, it has become a battleground of the Gounders..

KNMP’s candidates are in the forefront and observers point out, KNMP will give all other candidates a run for their money.

While the issues of the community are going to dictate the voting pattern, developmental issues, too, are going to sway the electorate.

The Gounders have all along felt they have been short-changed and the KNMP is trying to drive home this point.

The Coimbatore region being an agrarian & Industrial belt, issues such as reasonable prices for agricultural produce, mainly copra & lack of infrastructure development have cropped up often. Now both the major parties DMK & ADMK are campaigning against KNMP. But the winner will be one & only KNMP.
SO CAST YOUR VOTE FOR KNMP

Namard Demonic Alliance
by Vijayrama Rao on May 12, 2009 03:34 AM  | Hide replies

NDA (Namard Demonic Alliance) will probably remain united as evil forces always stays united to fight against good. But Good and righteous will prevail over evil forces in the end and so NDA will eventually bite the dust. Demon LK Advani is the leader of that alliance and we can imagine the force of darkness in their side. We celebrate Holi as it is the most auspicious time for spiritual cleansing symbolising the victory of good over evil. As Hindus, let’s not disappoint our ancestors by turning our heads towards darkness and save our motherland from evil forces.
Think preoperly when you caste your vote.

compare srilankan tamil issue to kashmir
by Sam Paul on May 11, 2009 10:32 PM

Kashmir Issue:
Where people have all rights as any common indian citizen and even more rights (muslim law and no one except kashmire can buy land in kashmir). But, with pakistan backing, some people are asking for homeland because they have muslim majority.

Srilankan Tamil Issue:
Srilankan tamils don't have equal rights as any sinhalese. They protested to get equal rights in gandhiyan way initially and after amry started killing and raping tamils, they took weapon to defend themselves. They need either equal rights to live in srilanka or a seperate homeland.

compare srilankan tamil issue to bangaladesh
by Sam Paul on May 11, 2009 10:31 PM

Bangaladesh Issue:
In east pakistan where bangaladeshis are majority didn't had equal rights as other citizens in pakistan. So, they protested and took weapons to defend themselves. India helped them secure a homeland for bangaladeshis. India still have lots of bangaladeshi refugees and they live here happy without any restriction.

Srilankan Tamil Issue:
Srilankan issue is very similar to bangaladeshi issue. Only difference is India don't want to help them. Instead they give weapons to srilankan army to kill tamils in srilanka. Srilankan tamil refugees are restricted to live freely in india and they are in the camp.

compare srilankan tamil issue to sikh issue
by Sam Paul on May 11, 2009 10:30 PM

Sikh Issue:
Sikh killed Indira Gandhi because they were against sending indian army to sikh's golden temple. Indira Gandhi was the root cause of the problem and Sikh killed Indira. But you can see MMS as PM of India now (probably the beloved bahu sonia don't like her MIL indira). And india is involved in the internal matters of pakistan to warn killing sikh in pakistan.

Srilankan Tamil Issue:
Rajiv Gandhi was killed by LTTE because IPKF killed and raped tamils instead of helping them in srilanka. Rajiv didn't controlled IPKF and he was the root cause of all the trouble, so LTTE killed Rajiv. And thousands of tamils were killed because of Rajiv death and india still helping srilanka to kill thousands. And india will say they cann't involve in the internal matters of srilanka.
