With the entry of the Kongunadu Munnetra Peravai (KNMP) into the election fray, the action in some constituencies in Coimbatore belt has taken an interesting turn. The contest in the area is a case in point. All major parties have so far campaigning, but the one who is going to eat into the votes of the major political parties is the KNMP which is espousing the cause of the community.
After the state govt had neglected the Kongu (Coimbatore) region for a long time in development aspects, it has become a battleground of the Gounders..
KNMP’s candidates are in the forefront and observers point out, KNMP will give all other candidates a run for their money.
While the issues of the community are going to dictate the voting pattern, developmental issues, too, are going to sway the electorate.
The Gounders have all along felt they have been short-changed and the KNMP is trying to drive home this point.
The Coimbatore region being an agrarian & Industrial belt, issues such as reasonable prices for agricultural produce, mainly copra & lack of infrastructure development have cropped up often. Now both the major parties DMK & ADMK are campaigning against KNMP. But the winner will be one & only KNMP.

After the state govt had neglected the Kongu Region for a long time in development aspects.- What an amusing statement. Gounders are socially , economically and politically very very strong in this region. After the birth of AIADMK they stood behind late MGR .This bond with AIADMK continued after his death .And the real reason for launching a party is getting share in political power game like Dr. Ramadas .The real loser will be AIADMK which enjoyed their full pledged support.
In Kancheepuram, if a child study well in School, it will be allowed to School. Otherwise it will be put to weaving. Due to less demand for silk sarees, weavers are jumping to industries around Sriperumbudur and hotels/catering in Chennai.

Kanchi is such a historical place- stopped by to visit temples- no other place in the world has such wonders... compare that to popeland, nothing there. I met silk saree weavers- they were happy to see me buy to the tune of 15,000, and then saw the state of affairs under congress. Weavers are not taken care of, temples1@ are falling apart, but branch new churches. WTF!!

Well said. You have made a list of all the things which whould not be done by the govt of the oldest party of india.
It is incredible that the CBI has given a clean chit to the Congress leader Jagdish Tytler in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. To expect the investigating agency to act freely without interference from the government of the day is definitely a remote possibility. The government must therefore come clean in the matter to assure the victims that the law will take its course and the guilty will be brought to justice.
President: --------- Look at the way we have brought a disciplined president. The previous man - kalam - appointed by BJP used to ask several questions before signing the bills, documents. We have brought an obedient, rubberstamp who never bothers to look at the document. In fact she is so disciplined that she has given us blank signed papers to me. See how disciplined a president we have. CEC: --- Kudos to the CEC I have brought. A man who is willing to do anything to please me. A man who obediently passes of all the insider information from the Election Commission thru wash room Can any other Party bring such a disciplined CEC?? CBI Director: ------------ We have got a Robotic CBI director. On my direction he has allowed the Bofors accused to escape. On my direction he has booked mulayam under corruption case. Again, when mulayam budges, on my direction he is ready to withdraw the charges.
Supreme Court: My next target ------------------------------ My next target is to discipline the SC.

Balaraman, Perhaps you forgot about your IB Director - the country's premier agency who also gave verdict in favour of you already.
Dear Rediff, there are reports about killing of more than 1,000 Tamil civilians in Lankan shelling. International medias are reporting about it. Why you are not at all reporting even a single word about it? Don't you have heart? Don't you have eyes? How cruel you media are! If you even little bit of humanity, then report about it neutraly, immediaely.

Iniyavan, Al Jazeera clearly mentioned that Govt of India (who may be in control of the Indian Government??)and USA has ordered termination of these fellows till last man. Still have illusions? Can you get your act together?

Did you know that on the day of the Mumbai train blasts, the Government gave Rs 150 crores for earthquake relief in Pakistan ? Last year our Govt. has given Rs 3000 crores (600 Million Dollars) to Afghanistan? This, when victims of terror in India have not yet got aid? What's going on? B) Is this Government really secular ?
1) When Madrasas are being shut down in Pakistan, the Indian Government is giving them CBSE status !! It is depriving Muslim children in getting secular education. A Madrasa educated person can get a job in any government office without going through the secular education system. Can India afford to have fundamentalists in government departments? Why cannot the government shut down Madrassas and let Muslim children study with the rest?

With the voter's turnout, this is what you get, mister balaji. While you are happily writing opinion, the minorities are happily voting, majorities are hiding in the holes - so what government you get. Be ready for more such instalments as same party is coming to power. Majorities can go to hell as they do not exercise their votes.

Dear Friend You have pointed a very good thing. But you have mentoned one thing wrong about 1984 Delhi riots. This was not only in Delhi, but all over India nd one of the biggest riots in India. Army and Policeman were also invoved in this these riots.
