Guys, Eelam was Srilankan Tamils home land for more than thousands and thousands of years. During British rule it was made together with Shngala Srilanka for better administration. The when they left they gave independance as one country (Sri Lanka). Tamils are fighting for the injustice, genocide & dominations made by the majority Shigala community. Do understand this before putting your comments against SL Tamils.

I am not against the SL Tamils. But this Eelam is dangerous nonsense. How do you propose it will survive? Who will guarantee it? Think, I personally feel that with sustained pressure the Sinhala's will be compelled to fall in line and give equal rights to Tamils.
If Bangladesh could be created with the help of India why not EELAM for SL tamils. Tamil Dravidians Hindu are the original inhabitants of Ilangai( Ceylon) later came to be known as SL.

Bangladesh was created to partially neutralise Pakistan. Srilanka is not a threat to India and therefore creation of Eelam does not serve any purpose. Eelam, if created, can eventually fall into the hands of anti-India elements like Pakistan or China. As long as India does not support division of Srilanka, they will not allow any anti-India activities on their soil. That is the unwritten political agreement.

You are right, MMK. India should be away from this petrol Bomb. No politician should interfere and promise like a king for votes in TN. It can trigger lot of unwanted issues later.
India must not interfere in the internal matters of lanka..the tamils there are citizens of that nation.let them sort out their problems...why are tamilnadu politicians promising the moon for people of some other country?

Yes, you are right. Dravidian politicians who promise the moon mean nothing. These are mere political statements to appease the voters as this karunadi character has no other issue in the elections. His statement has no value. Central Govt of India does not endorse every dumb statement made by this karunadi. More than the Srilankan Tamil issue, India's national security is more important. It is certainly not in India's interest to support Tamil issue or to kiss LTTE. What can LTTE do for us other than being a nuisance?

You are wrong. Freedom movement started in 1950s in SriLanka. LTTE came in to picture much later. They gained popularity in early 80s due to step-motherly treatment of Tamils by Sinhala majority.

Bangladesh was not created because of any love for Bangladeshis. It was a shrewd political move since it was not in India's interest to have borders with Pakistan on both east and west. By carving out Bangladesh, we eliminated the threat of a Paki border on the east. With Srilanka, we have no such threat. Indian Tamils are Indians, SL Tamils are Srilankans, not Indians. No need to bother about them.
