Reginal parties

They are good for regions, certainly opportunists and extornists for a position in forming govt. in Centre.
We request all voters to vote for BJP or Congress(Natonal parties) for MP position.

What has been Mawyawati's contribution to the state which she ruled? Erecting statues of herself, her mentor and Ambedkar and venting ire on all and sundry and indulging in vendetta politics. Does she deserve to be in politics? Answer is a big NO. And here she aspires to be the PM of this largest democracy. It is a shame that people and psedo-secularists like Ms Mustafa can go writing in defence of Maya and her "Maya".

It must be pointed out that it is people like Maya who are the ruling elite and not brahmins or any other upper caste Hindus. If Maya proclaims to be the defender of downtrodden and Dalits then the question is what has she done to alleviate their sufferings?

The remedy for the unstability in the States and the Centre is simple: Within one week of completing the election, have a re-run only with the first two candidates and declare one of them elected. This may cost a little more but then the govt. will be stable. The casteism will disappear. The list released by the Congress party in Andhra Pradesh having 294 members contains 87 members of just one community whereas their percent of the population is just 10% !This is already practised in France.

Let Majority Win

Let BSP or CPM or any other party contest at least in 50% of the seats across the country and represent atleast 0ne seat from each state. No one will have any issue with either Mayawati or Karat becoming the PM.

The issue is , none of these leaders have any national appeal. BJP or Congress did not get a national appeal on a platter, they had to work hard for it. The 3rd front is a simple way of winning just your strong hold and claiming victory.

That has failed in the past and will do so in future as well

What Nonsense
by sam on Mar 23, 2009 02:43 PM  | Hide replies

So the author Seema makes a case for Mayawati as PM based on what credentials??? Just because she is a dalit and has the ability to win about 35 seats in UP?? If this is all it takes then there are enough Mayawatis out there to become Prime Minister. The issue about the regional leaders is not about "elites" being against them but the issue is one of regionalism Vs. nationalism. The so called elites are educated enough to realize that this country will become un-governable and paralyzed in the absence of a stable government. So far only the large parties leading alliances like NDA or UPA have proved stable enough. Its no accident that 9% economic growth and poverty alleviation happened during this period. By supporting egoistic regional satraps like Maywati or Jayalalitha clearly Seema Mustafa's last priority seems to be our country or its well being. Its a travesty that people like her still even get column space in some media outlet --even the left leaning english press whom she wrongly accuses of being anti Mayawati!

Well said. Totally agree with you. Not only that, it is not that the "elite" doesn't like Maya because she is a dalit woman. It is because you need to have some program apart from uplifting Dalits - which too she has done little- to lead the country. It is one thing to lead a state, it is quite another to lead a country which is now caught in an environment where every country bordering it with the exception of Bhutan and China, is in deep trouble. To lead, one needs some understanding of the issues plauging the country, both within and outside. In that respect, Advani and MMS and to an extent Sonia or even Jayalalitha are much better placed than her.

my choice for PM from the beginning has been advani or mayawati. she i much more eligible to run h country than PM/SONIA. PM is good only as an economics professor.
