Appreciate people like Tharoor
by Aby Varghese on Mar 20, 2009 03:04 AM  | Hide replies

We should appreaciate people like Shashi Tharoor who show interest to play active role in Indian politics. The best practices he learned in implementing different projects at UN should help him if he gets elected.
This is a welcome change.

Not only tribals, soon India will become a Islamic or Christian country. Even now, Hindus are treated as second grade citizens.

This is a prime example of democracy in reverse.
Neither does the candidate knows about the problems of Kerala nor do the people in the constituency know the candidate.
He will not be representing the people of Kerala in the LS but the Congress to people in Kerala.

Tharoor in Congress's Kerala list ..............................
by Indian Taurus on Mar 20, 2009 02:01 AM

There is nothing to be happy or congratulating Congress unless you are looking at the issue from the point of view of Kerala state-pride. This is public relations tactics of Congress in international arena. Earlier MMSingh, a wold bank employee, was "selected" as PM under the political guidance of an Italian lady, as if she is champion of Indian politics, and now a UN General Secretary aspirant is being brough to parliament, after loosing the contest there. One should not surprise if he acquires the chair of "Speaker" etc in the post-election scenario after his election to the parliament. And now after the example of MMSingh, it is not necessary for him to win even the elctions. He can be brought through upper house also. The barriers of ethics have already been broken. And in all these actions, where is the role of intellectuality ? Tharoor wants an appropriate job after loosing ground at UN and Congress is offering him for its own interests. His links in UN will be utilised if Congress comes back to power in India. This is purely a business of mutual profit and intellectuality has nothing to do with it.

Tharoor made scapegoat
by Prakash Narayanan on Mar 20, 2009 01:54 AM  | Hide replies

Tharoor is a fool who dont know the winning formula in kerala. Majority of the kaangress workers dont like these types of imported goods, atleast here in Kerala. They will reject him completely.
That too he is contesting against Mr. Ramachandran Nair who is a staunch and old communist. Mr. Nair is a well known personality in TVM who worked for the party and the people for last 40 years... Tharoor can never face the popularity of Mr.Nair.
Later news came out that BJP is fielding O.Rajagopal in TVM. Rajagopal is another candidate who come in the same league of Mr.Nair.
I am sure this contest is between Mr. Nair and Mr.Rajagopal. Tharoor will get a maximum of 1 lakh vote thats all.
Come Tharoor, people of tvm will send you to UN immediately after the election...!!!!

Prakash, you have even predicted the number of votes Tharoor is going to get...u r gr8 man..u can only speak about your vote, u cannot expect others to follow what you feels..let people decide whom to win..what did Ramachandran or Rajagopal to Kerala till now..give a chance to this guy and see what he can do..we should encourage people like Tharoor in politics..not the veterans of politics and their kins...

Shreck, I am not telling we need not encourage people like Tharoor. Ofcourse eduacated people should come, but more important factor is the contact with the common man. Our candidates should be able to speak to the common public and understand their feelings. The so called imported people tharoor, vadakkan etc... will find very difficult to raise according to the voice of the people.. I never told you that Tharoor is waste to our society. But for a consitutency like TVM, while looking at the peoples view, he is lacking the karishma in front of Rajagopal and Nair.
And contributions... pls check with people of tvm itself... rajagopal is the only minister from kerala who did maximum for railways in kerala. Mr. Nair has a long list of achievements whch is directly for benefit of the common man in tvm.. In these ways wherer is Tharoor ???

Prakash, People of Kerala are not like Bengalis like you. This time Left may get around 1-3 seats for sure and CPM itself is admitting this matter. First study the situation in Kerala like Pinarayi Vijayan's 100 Crore Bribery case, CPM's fight against Christian Community & Nair Society and it leaders, Infight between CPM, CPI and left allies.
We need to support educated people like Sashi in politics otherwise our country would be under Goons, Dadas & Power politics like Maya, Yadav & Karaat.

Shaan, first of all let me tell you that I am a malayalee... I worked in TVM for 2 years and i know quite a lot of tvm people...
I dont suppport left or the goons of left like pinarayi.. and ofcourse the ldf status is very bad now.
what i am talking is the common man perspective. It is defenite that we dont need goongs or dadas. But think again, do we need high class society people also ? do u think they will raise their voice for you and me in parliment ? fianlly do u think tharroor type of people are accessi ble for you and me ?
But i am sure, mr. nair and ,mr. rajagopal are not like him... I can happily say that personally i had talked to them in privately and i am proud if any one of them wins. They are so friendly and so nice. Never ever they managed to get a penny thru illegal ways and both of them live a simple life...
Whoever we elect, they should understand our views, our worries and stand with us, the people. That is the only thing we need in our democracy. We dont need illetarates or highly educated or moderately educated who can not stand by with us... In that view, dont u feel like Rajagopal and Nair are the best bet ???

What's the wrong with Shasi contesting on a Congress ticket? I dont find any problem Sahasi contesting in COng ticket in Kerala? Sahasi is a Malayalee and BJP is a big zero in Kerala.. The only other option is Commies.. Cong is much much better than them.. After of Sashi could work with some of the brainiest head in India, if he wins in Cong ticket - like MMS and Chidambaram

A man who ran for UN sec: general should have kept his decency and should not have descended to fight for a mp post. for social service, many more effective methods were there. the so called intellectuals performance in houses are usually poor. sasi if at all he means will prove that silence/absence is indeed golden.

Tharoor,,,,It is better to leave apart from this Congress. If you will win the election, you have to follow Sonia, and you will loose respect. There is no any value of Intellectual in Congress.
