I like to see 3rd front parties winning this election, as I am fed up with both congress and BJP.

Analysing The Analysis
by Lalatendu Deo on May 02, 2009 11:22 PM  | Hide replies

It seems we have One Million and One analysis Floating around.

I do not think any one of us can really able to predict any thing at all. Even I do come across One Thousand and One Analysis, each one of them that logically suggests some thing drastically different than rest others, in this small Assembly constituency.

I have my own analysis and I have my own preferences. I am sure that my analysis and my perceptions as regards Mass Psycology is the best. So also are those of all others. Alas, these are so drastically different.

No, no one can predict an Indian Election. There are a billion ifs and buts.

Congi dakoos have bankrupted India!
by Rama Mani on May 02, 2009 08:28 PM  | Hide replies

This UPA govt has bankrupted us. Chidu taxed, taxed and taxed us to death! Then he, Con party and UPA leaders looted, looted and looted us bare and made Swiss bank richer! The budget deficit includes borrowing of 1, 45, 000 crores. Now it is floating immediately bonds of 45,000 crores for meeting immediate needs! Hope these bonds are worth what they are. These massive borrowing with no literal signs of spending anywhere at the ground level indicate massive loot all the way down and paying salaries of babus! Casino capitalism has brought massive economic miseries right on our door step! Rich have become richer and poor have become poorer! Australian farmers got double the price for their poor wheat than Indian farmers. Meanwhile our farmers are committing suicide in large numbers. Meanwhile Swiss banks have maximum deposits of Indians politicians, babus and others of more than 1800 billion dollars. Imagine who has kept maximum there! We all know it! Interestingly, many Swiss banks are going bankrupt. Hope our netas money vanishes too.

I don't how much you knew about Tamil Nadu politics before commenting this one.If JJ goes with Cong or not, DMK's state govt days are numbered.
It's not that ADMK is working against Congress, a lot of organizations are working to defeat cong candidates especially. UPA can win at max 5 seats in TN but none for Cong.

BJP has an upperhand in UP
by vijaya kumar on May 02, 2009 03:10 PM  | Hide replies

In UP people are fed up with Maya, Mulayam & Amar Singh. People are also fed up with Central Govt. and blaming Congress govt. for price rise of daily need items, job loss, unemployment., farmers suicide etc. In the last by-election of assembly Maya lost due to low percentage of voting and Upper cast voters /Brahmins stayed indoor and not come to vote. Now the upper caste voters who voted for BSP are drifting away from BSP and this LS election they are going to vote for BJP. Thakur vote bank is also shifting to BJP. Congress is only in few gandhi family seats. Wind has already started in UP in favour of BJP and its alliance with Ajit Singh Lokdal also help BJP to get more kissan vote and more seats. Middle class and salaried class are happy with the proposal of BJP to exempt upto 3.00 lakh from Income Tax and other welfare measures declared in the Manifesto of BJP. Moreover price rise of daily need items/food items & Varun Gandhi episode would also have impact in the voting . It will be a 3 way neck and neck fight between BJP, SP and BSP in U.P this time with BJP having an upper-hand. BJP plus RLD may win more that 30 LS in UP with SP and BSP around 20 seats each and Congress 5 to 6 seats. This is the ground situation in UP now.

Vijaya ,
Im sure you are from south india . Matter of fact is you have got some things right :
Maya : she had everything going for her in 2007 , this time around it seems she is certainly improving her position but by how many knows ( we will know on 16th ) my take around 25 - 30 .
Mulayam : I think Mulayam is reatining most of the ground so it will not be the whitewash media is indicating .. something like 25-30 would be his tally .
BJP : yes they are improving in west UP but JLD may actually loose a couple of seats . BJp rld 15-20 .
Congress : A lot of hype by media about congress improving in UP . yes in certain pockets cong will do better but overall seat tally will not improve much may be 10 -12 is whaythey can get .

So 30 seats for BJP is OUT OF QUESTION .

liggs,
You are wrong. The seats of BSP is not improving. Bhramins are drifting away from this party and even dalits are not coming out enmass to support BSP. Muslim community is also not coming out to vote in enmass to support a particular party to defeat BJP.

Neck and Neck fight between BJ, BJD & Congress in Orissa
by vijaya kumar on May 02, 2009 03:03 PM  | Hide replies

In Orissa there will be a three way fight almost neck and neck between BJD, BJP & Congress with a chance of congress going to 3rd place. In 2004 BJP got 19.3% vote and BJD 30.02%. The %age of BJP was less a they fought for less no. of seats. This time BJP vote %age will increase as people want a BJP/NDA govt. at the centre. Going with communists will cost BJD very much. Moreover BJD’s decision to break the alliance with BJP had not gone well with the people of Orissa. Last time Naveen Patnaik came to power due to BJP and popularity of Atalji.

Vijaya ,
Two points :
1. You have not mentioned the vote %age of Congress ( 40% ) .
2. If your contention is right , it would translate to more seats for congress not for BJP .
Lest say BJP improves from 19% to 24% , where will this vote come from ? Mostly from BJP which will fall from 30 to say around 27% and congress which may fall from 40 to 38-39 . If this actually happens you will see a sweep of congress in orissa .
My Take : Orissa will be fractured mandate congress and BJD will get around 10 each BJP will be an also ran . But that will depend upon the actual vote share of BJP . ( assumption is most of BJP vote is actually BJD vote ) in which case we may see BJD being the largest party congress @ number 2 and BJP with barely anything in its kitty .

jiggs,
You are wrong. You cannot take BJP's voting percentage as 19%. They contested last time only in less no. of seats so the percentage is less. Last time if they contested all the seats, then vote percentage would have been double say 38%.
