The caste system was the creation of the invaders. Tippu Sultan had made "Nairs", a prominent upper-caste of Kerala lower than "dalits" and the Britishers had made "Marathas" lower-caste for fighting against them. In Vedic era caste was decided by profession rather than by birth. Ved Vyasa was the son of a fisher-woman and Valmiki was a tribal. Even the father of Malayalam language, Tunchath Ezhuthachan was from a lower caste.
Caste System exists in X'tiaity and 1slam and also in some other countries like Japan, Nigeria, etc. Slavery in USA was more horrible than the Caste system in India. Read "Uncle Tom's Cabin" or "The Diary of a Slave Girl" and also Speech of Martin Luther King Jr (I have a dream...........) and history of American civil war.

Caste system is an integral part of brahminism, which is residual of varna vyavastha which it advocates. As long as there are people who belive in brahminism caste system will be there and that is the exact reason why Dr. Ambedkar asked his people to embrass buddhism.

Can you quote your sources? Where did you read that brahminism or for that matter of fact any caste preaches varna vyavastha? It was not part of any caste, it was the fabrication of people. Don't try to divide the already fragile country with vague theories.
Before you go off on a tirade, I am not a Brahmin, I am an Indian who does not believe in caste based identification.
