Manmohan Singh may be an ineffective Prime Minister who has no say in running of the country. Whole of India knows that it is Sonia Gandhi who rules India from behind. But the BJP is making the BIGGEST BLUNDER by making Manmohan a target by abusing him and increasing his relevance and stature in the eyes of the Indian voters quite unnecessarily. Advani is ill advised by the spin doctors of BJP to target Manmohan and giving him an "underdog" image that will attract pity and VOTER support for him. Had Manmohan been a corrupt and venal politician(which he is not) then a Manmohan vs Advani campaign could appear to be a PM vs future PM battle making the other contenders irrelevant. If the BJP's/Advani's tirade goes on against Manmohan as now, in retrospect they will find out after the polls that it would be the single most serious blunder they made for a poor showing at the hustings like they rue the day of their last mistake of the "India Shining" campaign. THE BJP/ADVANI SHOULD LEAVE MANMOHAN SINGH ALONE BUT CONCENTRATE & HIGHLIGHT ONLY THE BLUNDERS MADE BY HIM & THE CONGRESS PARTY DURING THE LAST 5 YEARS.

sadaf / imran.... Please dont proselytize here? I have the general idea, after watching all arguments amongst apostates on U Tube. The point is that upbringing it self is faulty, I am not talking about you Indian Muslims, I am talking about Arabs for whom women are just s-e-x toys. Read Steve Cole's latest book the Bin ladins he explains how Mohd. Bin Ladin had so many wives.

As Is@am came around, traditional pre-Is@amic roles of wom@n were replaced by new Is@amic roles that wom@n followed. Is@am allowed wom@n to have the right to be educated and the right to participate in political, economical, and social activities in their community. This created upward mobility in their communities. Wom@n were also given the right to vote, something the U.S. did not allow until 1919. Wom@n were given the right to inherit property and take charge of their possessions. While most of these rights are denied to Mus@im wom@n today as a result of cultural tradition, one should not associate this with Is@am, because they do not correlate with it .Is@amic wom@n wearing veils is a another commonly misunderstood concept in the West. Westerners often think that this is a harsh custom that Is@am requires of wom@n. Westerners often say these wom@n have no freedom or dignity for wearing these veils.
Re: Re: Re: @sadaf / Imran.......
by sadaf on Apr 17, 2009 04:57 PM
But in fact, these veils actuality help protect wom@n and help them remain in chastity. In Is@amic societies there are very few rape cases and AIDS victims as opposed to the Western societies, were there are thousands of rape cases and AIDS infected victims a year. But in some countries, like Saudi Arabia, wom@n are forced to wear abbayyas (floor length veils). Such excessive forms of these kinds of dress are not mentioned in Is@am. Is@am requires wom@n to wear a veil for their own safety, but if a woman chooses not to wear it, it is her choice and it is between her and her God. God will do anything He wants to her in this world and the after .

Lets stop talking about religion. But i have one doubt - Vidisha can you tell me, when hindus, Christians, Jains and Buddhist have pictures of their gods why not moslems? Are they afraid to see the face of mummmmadd?

Islam DOES NOT in any way claim any divine status for Muhammad (unlike Christianity, which called Christ the Son of God). He is revered as a Messenger of God, but eventually an ordinary human. Therefore, to avoid any future perversion of this message of pure Monotheism and to prevent their possible deification, all images of Muhammad (and his contemporaries) were forbidden for all time. Hope that answers your question.

we must have the courage to confront our past and reject outright the traditions and customs of our forefathers whenever they contravene the precepts of IS@AM. Did the Q*ran not severely criticize the pagan A*abs for blindly following the traditions of their ancestors? On the other hand, we have to develop a critical attitude towards whatever we receive from the West or from any other culture. Interaction with and learning from other cultures is an invaluable experience. The Q*ran has succinctly considered this interaction as one of the purposes of creation: " O mankind We created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other" (49:13). It goes without saying, however, that blind imitation of others is a sure sign of an utter lack of self-esteem.
