It takes guts to write truth!

The congress is nothing but "appeasement of Muslims and promotion of conversion to Christianity." For generations, all of us used to vote only for Congress not realising that Nehru is responsible for the Kashmir problem. Now, our present generation has woken up finally and we now vote only for BJP. All the points you mentioned are invaluable. The Haj subsidy is given; why not the Manasa Sarovar Yatra? Who bothers? Why is the Income(Read Donation) from Church and Mosques not questioned? As long as Hindus keep quiet (Now the fascist Tipu is being celebrated as a "hero"), all these will continue. It is time that all Hindus unite to vote for BJP so that we have a chance to be secular in the real sense.

It will do a lot of good if you are brief, to the point and sensible in your writings. Unfortunately you are not.

Please tell us how you would write 10 different points in a single line.... Do share your knowledge.

Rajeev, you have done a wonderful job by explicitly stating the points with enough elaboration.

Shashi Tharoor's fate
by flynn on May 12, 2009 09:33 PM

Shashi does not need to win from Trivandrum. He will be able to make it into the Rajya Sabha from somewhere else. Unfortunately for him, it is unlikely the Congress will form a government this time. But it is possible that the eventual winners will invite Tharoor to be a part of their government. He deserves it.

Fascinating!

Hope you have purged yourself off your hatred for the Congress, Tamils, Pakistanis, Muslims and Christians through this Rajeev. Fascinating, in the first place, how you put all of them together in the same basket. Now maybe you can try and be objective! More than half your essay is not even about Sashi Tharoor. This is just a rant full of divisive politics, maybe you should stop looking at yourself only as a Hindu and maybe as an Indian and more importantly as a human being! Funny that you think in spite of making more than 80% of the population in India, the Hindu's could go extinct.. hilarious paranoia indeed and high time we stop taking the theory of 'Clash of Civilizations' too seriously. Your essay is also wrought with contradictions.. for one you consider Hindu tolerance to be the major reason for India being relatively peaceful and all the while your essay reeks of intolerance... You need to check your value system, clean up your own house first would be my humble advise! We need some progressive people in politics in India and let's support Shashi Tharoor wholeheartedly instead of frustrating him with all these backhanded compliments!

Yeah,
We will support sashi tharoor make the same mistake that our forefathers have been doing for the past 60 years or so. INC have been splitting india to pieces on the basis of Minority Appeasement and let us open-Heartedly support it.

Rajeev is senile?
by Chandrashekar Shivkumar on Apr 30, 2009 10:18 AM

Rajeev has made some points, though they are ancient. Votes in Kerala are not decided on family relationships! I don't how it is in his green card land (or has he become a U S citizen). If Shashi Tharoor wins, it will be by default, certainly not by merit, cos he deserves to lose his deposit. Unfortunately, in this country, like all other countries, most things can be purchased, Votes included. And the chinese whispers are that Mr. Tharoor has $ backing! So he mite look good in his suite. But for a peoples representative, integrity, the Armani may not help. Integrity and courage will. I am not sure, Shashi has that either.

But I am also not sure, whether Rajeev has it. To define the LTTE as Christian Terrorism is nothing but trash. So it could be good to infer that Rajeev earned from his education at the IIT Chennai, subsidised by 1.2 billion milion struggling Indian masses.

Indians and Hindus don't need Rajeev or any of ilk. They are better of in Yank land or better still in Baby Doc Duvaliers where his sermons should be more acceptable. Illiterate masses there are more likely to accept his gibberish, the same way as some of India's intelligentsia accept priestly incantions.

Rajeev! I would like to use a stronger four letter word. But on second thoughts, it is an insult to use them at you or mr. Tharoor. Even that word has some dignity associated with it.
So Buzz off Amigo!

Forgot one thing
by Prashanth on Apr 30, 2009 03:41 AM

Rajeev has made some good points. But he seems to be ranting a little too much on local Kerala issues. That's ok but more importantly, it must also be mentioned that whatever the compulsions were in 1947, Nehru/Congress was also partly responsible for ethnic cleansing and surrender of the cradle of Hindu civilization, the ancient lands of the Sindhu/Saraswati to foreigners. We are also on the verge of losing Kashmir in the name of autonomy/self determination to Pakistan or to China. The Northeast is also under threat. The alternative is the BJP that is probably no better after Kandahar plane fiasco.

What to do?

Hope for a change
by Paul Richard on Apr 28, 2009 06:05 PM

Though I agree to Mr. Srinivasan's views on why should such a talented statesman enter politics, let us not forget that the entire Indian Political system is changing though not at a desirable level. Many a learned men take this profession and I'm hopeful that the system itself would change in our life time. it needs a start let us welcome it. I know many learned men are now into politics. Let us identify them and support them no matter what their party is.

Keralites hate Tamilians (and vice versa)
by Ganesh Johnson on Apr 27, 2009 03:16 PM

In 1992, i travelled by the Udyan Express from Pune to Bangalore. As some of you may know, this is an overnight journey. I was a young man of 23, travelling to join a newly acquired job with one of the first multi-nationals to set up shop in Bangalore as a software export unit.

I was in a regular III tier coach. Amongst other occupants, there was a middle-aged Tamil spinster, and a young Malayali family (a man, his wife & a child.)

What i remember vividly (after nearly 16 years) is very little, but for one thing - toward the evening, without much provocation, the Tamil lady started spewing verbal venom against the Keralite family. For someone like me who had grown up west, most of it was education (but shockingly so) - the Tamil lady used choice invectives & said some uncharitable things about Keralites - such as how they are good for nothing but the worst jobs (nurses, and so on), and how they cheat, lie, steal .. and are unclean etc.,

It was my first exposure to the prejudices that most Indians form and carry around!
