Whereever Muslims are in a majority , they declare it an Islamic state and have Islamic Law. For example all countries in the middle east are Islamic Countries.
Where Muslims are in a minority , they claim to be secular.For example India , Most European countries , USA etc .
All Indians please apply your mind and think why Indian Muslims will not ask for India to be declared an Islamic state when muslims are a majority. Kashmir is a Muslim majority state and they burn the Indian Flag and want to be with Pakistan.
100 years ago hindus were more than 70% of the population of Pakistan and now there are virtually no Hindus in Pakistan. Just think what will be India's position in the next 100 years with illegal Bangladeshis and muslims in India having no regard to family planning.
PLEASE APPLY YOUR MIND TO THESE SERIOUS ISSUES AND ONLY THEN VOTE FOR THE PARTY YOU THINK WILL BE ABLE TO TACKLE THESE ISSUES.

India is a secular country because the majority beleice in letting people follow their faith. Muslim majority countries do not beleive in letting people follow other religions and therefore force them to follow only ISLAM.

Rshid, In 1947 when India and Pakistan were divided on the basis of religion. India could have easily become a Hindu nation based on the theory and as the majority population but it didn't chose to where as PAk which also had other religious minorities became Islamic nation. This is in fact a big issue....I am not a BJP supporter and do believe that everyone has a right to live and religion should be a personal issue....however, Islam needs most radical reforms possibly than other religions (who also need reforms).... a thing which is practically wrong can't be coming from a very good theory.
Trust me, I am not at all a supporter of Modi, etc. They indeed are blood thirsty creatures.

I agree that not all Kasmiris want to be with Pakistan. But why is it that we never hear of protests or bandhs in Kashmir demanding that Kashmir should be with India. The reason is that such muslims are too few to matter.

The overwhelming majority of Indian Muslims are very much part of the national mainstream. What makes you so insecure even Musl1ms rule again.... May be i can't answer your precisely why they are not secular.. But i can say one thing that The wisdom in this is that every religion has the right to teach its followers that its beliefs are the right beliefs and that other beliefs are either false or not accurate.

No political party has mentioned as to how the party would institutionalize secularism, i.e., accepting and respecting all faiths which are alive from time immemorial and are currently evolving and being followed by substantial number of Indian citizens/nationals. Policies of appeasement and policies of giving sops in the shape of reservations and other privileges etc., have been talked about. We must introduce secularism as a compulsory course right upto the graduate level and each student must be required to secure over 75% marks in papers on secularism. The course modules for diffrent levels should be able to make students progressively study the original principal holy books ,Shastras, of each faith. Such books should have authentic translations in various languages of India so that students of each region can study them. The teachers for course on secularism should be highly erudite and also well versed in all the prescribed Shastras and such teachers would be required to be developed. Indians though by tradition and convention are secular, they will be robustly secular by an appropriate authentic knowledge and understanding. Once the institutionalizing process through knowledge is set in, I believe speeches like that of Shiv Saniks, some HVPites , BJPites with impresionable minds, and by fundamentalists rather begots of other faiths will become things of the past. Knowledge of Shastras will also make better men and leaders.
