After 37 years abroad, do you recognize your country, Sir?
by Superman on Apr 06, 2009 09:11 PM  | Hide replies

I am almost certain his children and wife are honorable citizen of united States of America. and never think of starting their life in India.....He has retired...now he can finally remember his village, the small river beside his village and the poor farmers....I wish him all the best....He is educated and as a person much better than people like Devegowda and others.....But it would be much better if he would have stood as a Congress or a BJP candidate....He could change the policies...But now his situation is like those IITians of Chennai who stood in last election forming new parties and could not win elections!!!!
Few people then also showed optimism,"One day India will be a matured democracy to accept such educated people."
But the truth is, when your city is flooded with water, you wont find a Manmohan Singh washing it, it would be humble politicians connected with people will do that. and that is the problem with the educated class.

I respect him,,,BUT

I have a little different view here. I agree he must be a great human being and excellent in studies and in his field. But isnt politics different. I mean, he does not have expierence in politics. HE might be very good polatician but as of now he is not professinal polatician.
I believe we need professional polaticians who has spent time doing some social service initially and worked under good NGOs and organisations who know our society well.
But in india what happens is who ever becomes famous in any field wants to try a hand in politics. Thats why you see, film stars, sportsmen, ex Cops become polaticians. I dont say all are bad, but shouldnt there be a little bit of experience before people take up such important posts of MLA and MP.
Having said that, compared to most of the people who are standing in election, probably Dr Tirumala Raya Halemane is better option

i am very happy that highly qualified people like u are thinking of joining politics and serving the motherland. mangalore is very lucky that u are going to be contesting there. people should not let go of this rare oppurtunity of getting such a person like u into politics. i only hope sense prevails and u win the elections instead of some uneducated fellow with criminal and political connection.
i really appreciate your thoughts and your efforts. best of luck to u. only mangalore has to lose if they dont elect u.
