VARUN...

Is there some sort of Pota or Tada imposed on Varun Gandhi? Instead of proving him guilty the EC is asking him to prove his innocence. Anybody who has studied some basic law would know that a person is innocent unless proven guilty. But the EC has instead asked Varun to prove that he is not guilty. What sort of justice is this. EC is bound to fail in this case in a court of law. That is why NSA was imposed on Varun so that these pseudo secularists do not face the court's ire before the General Elections for their illegal action...

EC is a crook - BJP already opposed his presence but the President overruled it .

The National Security Act invoked against Varun is not only unjustified but also an act of appeasement of minority votebank of these pseudo secularists. The common man of this country will give a fitting reply to Congis and other pseudo secularists for this....

It is justified. In fact it is justfied against anyone who indulges in stirring religious or communal passions regardless of the religion of the person.

Varun Gandhi was deliberately trying to stir passions with his hate speech and therefore had to pay the price.

I hope NSA is invoked against more people who think provoking population in name of religion or caste is justified.

VS:

Name three people.... and please refrain from quoting the BJP's candidate list; for every intelligent Indian knows that it is not merely BJP who is stirring up communal passion.

A person when enter into the field of politics should know the basis of plotics, does't matter if he is not educated. Varun, such a highly educated person and borne to gandhi family should not have lowered himself to this extent. He should have, at the outset, talked about the history of BJP, its policies and programs to woo the voters. Here unfortunately the scriptwriter is somebody else - he is just a pawan at somebody's hands - poor boy - he is cornered.

Double standards and perceptions of convenience
by A C on Apr 01, 2009 03:46 PM  | Hide replies

A glass half empty is right answer, A glass half full is wrong answer.

The UPA & Congress speaks for minority, is not implied as speaking against majority. The majority being divided by them is not called divisive forces. Their criticsm and actions are constructive not destructive for majority or minority.

Its for all to see, for them 2 wrongs becomes a one right. Some marginal people deciding what majority should do is secular and democratic. Steps taken or spoken of for majority is considered undemocratic and communal.

In India, a person is criminal unless proved otherwise. In the world it is the other way around. In India the election commision has asked Varun Gandhi to prove that the tapes were doctored, whilst logically they need to establish the evidence they have is ireffutable and collect evidence to prove it is not doctored. No accused has powers bestowed upon them to summon, arrest or investigate and yet he is being asked to prove they are not doctored. People who are using powers selectively are abusers of power trying to hoodwink a system and doing an eyewash. They have even no shame to show that it is not their job is to accuse and pass orders, and leave it for courts to decide whether its right or wrong, more so when it cannot be upheld in a court of law. Actions taken should be treated as unlawful which currently is not the case. Thats our legacy double standards, and perceptions of convenience
