WB Election
by Dr Asok Kr Datta on Apr 05, 2006 07:18 PM  | Hide replies

The LF here has a distinct edge as follows:-
1)They have a definite manifesto-the opposition lacks it!
2)Front partners are united-the opposition is divided;
3)Owing to the CM,WB has become one of the favoured investment options;
4)People are still alive to remember the oppressive regime of the Congress during the 1972-77 period;
5)LF is definitely pro-people-look at their personal corruptions & measures taken,if reported,their discipline-in fact some are totally devoted to organisation who had never tried/opted for legislative powers,e.g. Biman Bose.
6)I can still remember the 'levy' charged by Congress cadres during the '70s from professional like me while sparing the actual rich businessmen

by nandita. on Apr 05, 2006 06:45 PM

left front will win this time also . i am sure about it. there is no other alternative in west bengal .being a strong supporter of congress party ,i am sorry to say that there is no alternative of Buddhadev bhattecharji either as chief minister of w.bengal . i watched him from my university days . i was his class mate .he was a sincere and honest worker for his own party then . i think he is the same man today also.

Politics
by Jacob on Apr 05, 2006 06:42 PM  | Hide replies

For a person who would be able to recognize the very behaviour of a politician can find the word politics which merged from "Poly-tricks". Poly means multiple and tricks means cunning. It means multiple-tricks or multiple-cunningness is the meaning of a politician. A cunning or subtle person or persons can easily convience an individual or a group because we are not. How can I make people to think like a politician?

Its not always arithmetic. State elections are ruled by how happy r people in the small towns n villages.
With good rains and good handling of flood/tsunamietc. and all the roll back policies of this hard ruling but confident CM, I expect AIADMK to rool the roost again.

I am sure people of TN will not allow a fracture verdict as this is not good for state politics. It is always better a majority party governs as it would help in governing better.

Tamil Nadu Elections - Its maths stupid!
by anand on Apr 05, 2006 06:19 PM

Dear Sir,
Score AIADMK:
Roll back of tough though necessary measures, tie up with MDMK however opportunistic,special cash incentives to women self help groups,a well and timely reaction to the tsunamis/flood etc stray incidents barring, Nokia/BMW etc setting up shop in Tamilnadu,good industrial climate,decent law & order and a much mellowed down and businesslike chief minister.

But but can all this be sufficient to take on DMK/PMK/Congress/Left combine?
In the end governance can take a back seat. This election will be decided by the arithmatic and not by rice at Rs.2.00 or CTVs free.Winning three assembly bye elections is but a mere aberration.Vaiko brings in all of 3.5% of voteshare! Almost as miniscule as BJP's which is fighting independately!Prepare for MK/Stalin raj!!!

kerala election
by NIXON on Apr 05, 2006 06:01 PM

I am Teena from Kottayam
the Election in kerala is going to be DEVelopment V/s VS achutananthan
V.S with opposition to each and everything will take kerala back wards. His opposition to even IT Investments in the state is surprising..
he proposes to make another IT park in Kochi .imagine kerala GOVT going to spend 250 Cr to devolop IT Park . when all other states have Private parties investing to develop IT parks .
he also claims that smart city project as real estate lobby. i would like to ask one question
what is then trivandrum technopark developed by LDF Govt ?.Crores invested by using states hardearned money of the taxx payers to devlop infrastructer and then leased it out to IT comopanies ( doesnt it sound like real estate BiZ.
VS once in ur life time pls visit other states and see the DEV happening there.
if one thing that could change the Kerala it is IT
and the state badly need good infrastructer like IT parks to promote IT. Govt cannot and beeter not build parks . the Money could be used for the Upliftment of the Poor and the farmers..

Political Situation in Kerala
by Sandeep on Apr 05, 2006 05:57 PM

Kerala is all set for the assembly elections with CPM led LDF and Congress led UDF contesting for 140 seats. With the special attitude of Kerala residents there is no talk about BJP at all. All predict a change in Government and it will be history this time with LDF winning more than 115 seats.

Even Congress workers agree that the inclusion of Karunakaran to UDF will result in easy win for LDF.
