proud to be a bihari!
by Monty on Jan 28, 2005 07:42 PM

respected sir,
i do agree with you that now the term "bihari" has become a derogatory remark. but being a bihari i dont agree that we are not proud of being bihari.i do accept that there are all those problems but i feel media is also responsible for creating that image. you have mentioned many achievements of bihar, it was good to see. but in media the bad about bihar is headlined and disussed with bold letters all over. but when its time for counting its achievements, the achievements are not given proper attention and coverage.there are some events like "sonepur cattle festival" its one of biggest ok its kind! , the internationally renowned "budhha festival" at gaya etc are many such examples where bias of the media is displayed.and when we talk about the crime. then a kidnapping in bihar bags headlines but some facts are not mentioned like in gaziabad,up almost one kidnapping takes place every day places.
i accept that there are many things which are really bad here.but i feel bihar should get fair and unbiased coverage fron the media . its only then bihari will not be considered as derogatory!

I feel pity for the Biharies. The very word "Bihari" is used as an abusive terms in some so called progressive states and I agree with Salil in his findings that it was one of the key centers of our Golden past but thanks to illiteracy and the great politicians of Bihar it has come to such a position that people from other part of india no longer wish to visit Bihar.
Hope the situation improves and people fight to regain their lost glorious place and it is known for growth and achievements rather than backwardness and poverty.

Bihar culture!!

You have mentioned that 25% IAS and IPS qualified students are from Bihar. You can bet your last money that most of them would have passed the exam through dummies or secret paper leaks like the recent CAT leak.Remember that even the culprit in above case(Ranjit 'Don' Singh) was from Nalanda in Bihar.

by Shwet Kashyap on Jan 28, 2005 06:54 PM

I am Proud to say that I am Bihari.
Though i was born in Ranchi and got my education everything in Ranchi but my native place is Bihar
and am proud to say i am a Bihari.I have trvelled
all over India but i never found anything different.
Wherever i go i feel i am in India.Though Bihar is
suffering a misrule from last fivteen years but it
why to make it a matter of fun and matter of jealousy.
What is our's fault? Why we get such a treatment wherever we go?R we not Indian?
This is just Matter of Shame for the people of Republic,Soveriegn, secular INDIA.

so nice a joke
by shrek on Jan 28, 2005 06:42 PM

it pinches when i hear abt "planet bihar". the place has gone from worse to worst. and all the ways it takes...takes it down.
it wish it was as easy as a joke. the place is (often quoted) hell. but please ponder . someone lives there. people are spending their lives over there. bringing up children. there is life over there. no one likes jokes being played on their homes.
our derogatory words do pinch . they pinch hard.

Compliment for the mail
by Shrawan on Jan 28, 2005 06:37 PM

If you take entire creame out of milk, can you expect a nice ghee (butter)? Same example holds good for BIHAR. Woo is left in Bihar- No Engineer, Less govt Employees, No MBAs, unfortunate Doctors, No business man, no enterpreneurs. So what we can expect from the left overs. I do not blame one or two, the entire national leaders are responsible for this situation. No one like to change this, as its very easy to get Vote with Gun, rather then begg with people for VOTE.

Now we can only PRAY for BIHAR. As the mending situation is over. Courtesy all great Politicians.

Why to expose Bihar only ?
by Ronit Raj Singh on Jan 28, 2005 06:29 PM

U all are making news to write something on Bihar , if u see any news channel then almost in every channel's headlines u will get news about bihar, even a small crime become headline though that there is much more crime is in Delhi,UP,AP or in any other state but u guys or media is after Bihar only .
U all will never write the brighter side of Bihar and only write negative aspects of Bihar as if Bihar is in Pakinstan. What u had written is absolute crap that..don travel after 8 or don try to be too brave..etc...nonsence .
In Bihar goons a using desi katta but here in Mumbai they r using automatic weapons, in Bihar very few or no one is dyeing by starvation like Orrisa, farmers r not committing suicide like A.P in many others parts of country SC,ST or OBC are still not accepted in the society they have to remove theres slipper or get down from the cycle or many others discrimination but in Bihar these things are on decline .
Why to expose Bihar only ?
I m BIHARI n working in Mumbai as a Network Engineer
n i don't feel any shame in being a BIHARI .
