Take the blame on yourself Mr.Thackerey
by Mangesh on Oct 18, 2004 06:48 PM

I am a great fan of Mr.Thackeray and like some of his speeches. But the fact is just blaming muslims for his parties downfall is not the way to go about it. The problem is that his party is falling behind on the ground work level. He should go and look at what some his 'shakhaas' are doing. Make no mistake , I am a proud mumbaikar myself but blaming the minorities and not his partymen is not done! I am sure you will have a long beard to sport before the next assembly election!!!

Whabout the goatee?
by SNS on Oct 18, 2004 06:06 PM

Thackeray's frustration is understandable. Come on, who would like to live with that unwanted goatee for 5 years? Let's see whether he stands by his own words that he'll remove it only when SS-BJP comes to power.

Y only blame muslimes
by Reshma on Oct 18, 2004 05:54 PM

I really feel very disheartened by such politically incorrect statements by Mr. Thackeray, he should realise that his party's defeat is not because of Muslim community. It is because of his own community, why he is shying away from the fact that so many maharashtrian population is not in favour of Sena. Just by raising fingers on any community he just cant get away with the fact that his own community has not supported him. Muslims right from the begining are in the favour of Congress and they are doing what they have been doing since many years. But what about your people who claim themselves to be a senaite, but still support Congress.

Cures on Maharashtrians
by mAr on Oct 18, 2004 05:47 PM  | Hide replies

As though Congress is not for divisive politics! Look at Congress ruling Karnataka, they hate Tamils, they never allowed Cauvery water to flow, they attack all Cinema Halls where Hindhi or non-Kannada films are shown, yet this is not a big deal! Because it is being ruled by Congress allies! Shame on Moino Congress.

The only thing in favor of Congress is disunited Hindu voters, United Muslim and Minority voters. By allowing Muslims to kill Hindus and exploiting moronic attitude of Hindus (rediffs response place is the best to place to look at that), Congress is sticking to the power.

The only way BJP or Sena can retain their presence is by pitching it really hard in the parliament and in the assembly that it should make hell of a time for the ruling party. By acting like present BJP which is no different from Congress, will only take them further down.

This is the harsh reality, BJP/Sena must consolidate their vote bank by clearly identifying themselves as alternate for Congress in protecting Hindus; If BJP thinks that by aligning with anti-Hindu forces (like Congress) and kill Hindus and crow the killers of Hindus it would go only to dust.

The saffron needs to be re-dyed.
by chanakya on Oct 18, 2004 04:28 PM

The saffrons of both, the BJP as well as that of Senam, have faded, and unless some innovative steps are taken by both to revive the patriotism of the silent majority, which at present is at a very low ebb, unfortunately, with a view to the perils that have already started brewing up becuase of the palpable indifference of the silent majority towards the obligations to the future generations.

The safed topi in general and Sonia in particular has taken the full advantage of this sitution both at Delhi as well in Maharashtra.

The undeniable fact, however unpalatable it may be, is that we, the silent majority, are idiots.

Very good

I am impressed by his view
but mr. thackery is forgeting that we are staying in secular country and not in nepal
nepal is hindu rashtra country and there is national integeration among hte nepali, aye bhagwaan is manus ko sadbuddhi de ke ab to sambhal jaaye.
COntribution of Congress party in national movement is more than any political party in India, we should respect the party and its ideology, I belive we should all stand as Indian first and then hindu muslim marathi gujrati.
I belive shiv sena call from aamch imumbai or me mumbaikar ditn wwork.
He will be wonderful person ifhe changes his thinking he needs to start thinking as Indian and not as hindu.

my views

Firstly to say even am an anti-congress and more towards BJP and allies.

But these words from Thackeray are really harsh, baseless and does not do any good for the party in future. Instead he could have acknowledged the defeat and worked on the loopholes of the part strategies with the vision of next elections.
