Wish there were more like him...
by Rajeev Venkat on Apr 21, 2004 12:14 PM

I dont like referring anyone as King, Queen or Prince but if the gentleman sincerely means what he says, I would not hesitate to refer him as Prince of Arcot. One can only wish that there were more of his tribe in our country.

The Prince has very rightly pointed out what ails this nation. Its lack of 'right' education & direction. A human is a human, wherever he is & above all has no choice on the religion, language, caste, creed into where he is born. So if one is a believer, its not difficult to conclude that this 'difference' cannot be a differentiating factor between humans. Right education is the need to the nation.

Nawab Sahab has to go beyound talking!
by Mudasser on Apr 21, 2004 12:13 PM

I would like to congratulate Nawab Sahab for talking about the dilemma people in general and Muslims in particular face in this country. I agree with Nawab Sahab on all counts but I think that people like him have to do more then just talking, giving press briefings, writting, etc. this drawing room approach needs to be shun.I would be happy if Nawab Sahab just go and check how many schools and colleges Govt. has opened in Muslim localities.Comparision with Christians is not fair because they have developed their institutions where seats are reserved for them, be it St. Xaviers college Mumbai or St. Stephen's college Delhi all have reservations for christians and also receive grants fromt eh govt. but AMU does not have any fixed quota for muslims and other muslim institutes (providing reservations to muslims)does not receive govt. support. I think Nawab Sahab needs to go and see the conditions of the muslims both who are not studying and those who have studied but are unemployed. Its better if he makes informed opinion and does something.

Muslims are not minorities
by Jayanta Banerjee on Apr 21, 2004 11:42 AM

I fully agree with this bold statement by His Highness.
If we say "minorities", "backward caste" etc then when they shall become a part of the majority?
As it is, in this country of over population, there is a huge supply against (less)demands (in all walks of life) and if we cling to such phrases even now then when shall we actually grow and "shine"?

Muslims should join the mainstream
by ATUL V B on Apr 21, 2004 11:40 AM  | Hide replies

It is good to hear and read such thoughts, but if the same is told by the so called Majority community of India, it is taken in the wrong sense. Muslims and Hindus have lived together from ages and there is no reason why we should not live the way we have been living for years to come.

Leaders like Mohammed Abdul Ali Azim Jah should come together in making an effort to make the Muslims understand that they are being used as vote banks and are being misled by their own people for the fear of the unknown.

With a vision of making India a Developed country by 2020, we all should understand that we should live together with no hatred towards each other and work towards the common goal of making INDIA a super power, a developed country.

And the only way of getting our acts together is to live in harmony, brotherhood and peace. There is no point in blaming the common man - its the politicians who are messing with the sentiments of the majority as well as the minorities. Let us all shred off these misleading and harmful words for a better t'row.

Jai Hind

Sensible leadership
by Ketan Parajia on Apr 21, 2004 11:37 AM

Its really a pleasant surprise to know that still we have got sensible people around us. Though we should be disappointed that the Nawab .. is not thinking of joining politics. We require such people who can really guide indians and stop spreading hatred politics. He rightly mentioned that main priority of Indian muslims is education. I really appreciate nawab. Its really motivating and heartening to learn the point of view of nawab...
We should be and become good hindus or good muslims or christans. But before that we should be good indian.
