Sonia Gandhi

I admire Sonia Gandhi for her sincerety, loyalty and her values though I am not comfortable for seeing her in PM's position. Not because I suspect her sincerety or loyalty but I am afraid that she may become a victim of venomous sycophants who surround her as a PM. Though I respect her just as I respect any lady, I just do not want to give the nation in her hands as that may put both into an unenviable situation.

There is no doubt that she is the fifth foreigner to become the president of the Indian National Congress Party. The other four were probably during the British Rule and none of them aspired to become PM. Much is made about her being Nehru and Gandhi (which Gandhi?) It is also not known as how she is Nehru and Gandhi.

To aspire for highest post of any country one needs to be heartly the countrymen, which comes only by birth, then one can understand pulse of the people, nation etc.,besides ability.

The presidentship of the party has come to madam due to inability of other congressman to lead or come together for a common good cause.

It would not be out of place to say that the real things started happened during the tenure of PV Narasimha Rao and Man Mohan Singh (reforms etc), which the present leadership wants to put in background or rather forget it and go back to old ways populisim and vote bank politics.

Why she took 16 years to become Indian citizen? In India when a girl gets married, her name from the ration card is removed from her fathers village/town and immediately it is added to her husbands/inlaws ration card within a month. Why she did not become Indian citizen immediately? This means she was residing with Indira Gandhi, who was then PM, as a foreign citizen? Is any foreign citizen is allowed to stay in PM's house beyond rasonable time? Is it not against the secrecy act? And even today has she surrendered her Italian citizen ship?

George iype,

Today its a public knowledge that there is no English course thought in any of the 31 colleges associated with Cambridge Univ......

If the above is a fact / reality, not sure why you are parrotting a blatent lie that she met Rajeev when she was a student of English in Cambridge...
Sonia was studing English working as a Au pair in one of the non descript fly by night english school. Equally dubious is the claim about her sons education qualifications

Not sure about your intentions of misleading the nation about Sonia's fasle education qualification.

Would request you to check facts and post a adjoinder to this article so that facts are presented to all the readers of Rediff

EP Surin
Sonia's foreign issue
by EP Surin on Apr 13, 2004 05:15 PM

I admire Mrs. Sonia Gandhi for her guts to enter into the politics arena despite the fact that her husband and mother in law were assasinated for political reason. One should not raise the question of her foreign origin because she is an Indian now. There is no question of her patriotism at all, she really loves the country India and can sacrifice her life for this. It has been vindicated by the very fact of her husband and mother in law's sacrifice. After all she belongs to the same family and values.I wish her all success in politics to become the Prime Minister so that India could develop like European Countries.
