If the rules of cricket allow 'mankading' and the umpires have approved, and given Jos Butler as run out then why are so many people including cricketers and ex cricketers accusing Ashwin's action as disgraceful, unethical and embarrassing. There is absolutely nothing wrong, unethical or against the spirit of the game in what Ashwin did if the rule permits it. Batsmen should remain in the crease till the bowler has delivered the ball or follow the consequences. If most cricketers are objecting to this 'Mankading' then it should be removed from the list of rules of cricket, otherwise 'Mankading should be used whenever possible.

Ethically, Buttler was wrong in taking undue advantage, and therefore deserved the run-out.
Why is it the bolwer's responsibility to warn?
If there's a rule in the rulebook, there's no need for tutoring or reminding the batsmen about the rules. And these batsmen playing at the international level know the rules very well, and intentionally flout them.
The action of Ashwin in running out Buttler is not disgraceful. However he should have warned him. However if the ball that ran him out is watched clearly, it will be seen that Ashwin stopped in his track, i.e., dropped the bowling action which means the ball is dead and the umpire should have said so instead of giving him out. Hence it is the umpire who is to be blamed for not watching the proceeding properly and not Ashwin.
