Greg
by Vikas Banga on Jun 02, 2017 12:56 PM

Yesterday my boss issued a warning to all of us to come office on time, do work in time allotted for that work, maintain discipline and few other things like that.
All of us got angry with him and even decided to make complaint against him.
I think that is the case with Greg Chappel. He pulled the seniors from their comfort zones.

Sachin was better at match fixing than at playing cricket.

Before and after
by Soumya Kundu on May 27, 2017 12:16 PM  | Hide replies

Before Chappell (in 2003), India were WC finalists, where they lost to significantly better aussies. After Chappell, India won the T20 WC (2007) and the 50 over WC (2011). During Chappell, India lost to BD and were eliminated in the Group Stages of the WC (2007). Chappell was an aussie agent who was sent to sabotage Indian cricket. His personal favourites were Sreesanth (the match fixer) and Dinesh Karthik (future India captain in his opinion). Some visionary, eh?

Sachin's greatness
by Manohar Rao on May 26, 2017 11:06 PM

The current generation can never realise the contribution of Sachin to Indian Cricket. Every era is different, you can not compare Sachin with Gavaskar or say Kohli. People who have actually watched Sachin play know very well that how Sachin has been declared out wrongly innumerable times. It was this reason that Sachin used to play extra carefully when he came into 90's.
Sachin was greedy, no doubt but this greediness is what helped him accumulate so many runs.
Those who say that Sachin just played for records, then just imagine, if he has not scored those centuries then most of the times Indian team could have been all out under 100 runs. Cricket is played by 11 players, if one player fails then other players should excel. If Sachin fails and match is lost then the entire blame is put on him.
I think people who are criticising Sachin should learn cricket first, they should first look at themselves and retrospect what they have achieved in life to comment against an international star and legend.
I am sure those who are criticising the Sachin might have never worked hard in their life, never achieved anything in their life, they never understand the power of teamwork and if any one member of the team is upset with something then the whole team and obviously the work too get affected.
Chappel has upset-ted not one but many senior members of the team and the result is there to see.

Sachin only one of his kind and there will be no more Sachin for genrations to come.

The role of batting position in modern day cricket
by Chaitanya on May 26, 2017 09:07 PM

Cricket, including ODI batting, has changed a lot. But some Indian cricketers (and some fans too) seem to be stuck in the past with old mindsets.

The average run-rate in ODIs is more today, than it was before.
It is common for spinners to open the bowling.
It is common for middle order to be exposed to quality swing/seam bowling
It is common to expect to expect the middle order to do the bulk of the run-scoring, than the openers.
All batsmen, down to the middle order, need to be good at grabbing (and creating stroke-making) opportunities, while still minimizing risk of getting out.

After all these changes, to still believe that a few small changes in batting order explains away a pathetic all-round poor performance (in batting, bowling, fielding) indicates either extreme dishonesty or an extremely stagnant mindset.

Sachin never won the match on his own in any of the matches played by India he was more bothered about his records like Gavaskar. In 2007 his batting was lowest ebb that was the reason why Greg changed his batting position

The main reason he did not want to let go of his opening position in odis was he would not be able to hit centuries batting down the order....

if sachin would have continued playing as an opener gambhir would not have played any odi...

Sachin was the highest run getter in 2011 world cup. He might not have scored in the semi finals and finals but if you do not scored in the league matches then you you could not reach the finals.
