IPL is not the right format for finding talent for first class cricket. He is absolutely right on this issue. Atleast, there is one person to come out on this. All other first class veterans are just watching and enjoying the IPL.

AFTER GAMBIR, SEHWAG HAD A FIGHT WITH DHONI, THEY BOTH NEVER CAME BACK INTO THE TEAM...
Though Gambhir helped India win the world cup.. and he also won two IPL for KKR.. Also Gambhir was doing good even in away matches in tests, when he was playing for India...

Who can contradict? Normally performance in first class cricket like Ranji, Duleep trophy is considered for national selection not on IPL basis. May be for one dayers, some time a person is so successful in IPL like Rahane etc., this year, they can be considered(Rahane is in the team just only example I gave)
Gautam Gambhir is 100% correct saying that IPL-T20 is not the right Format to judge a young talent. I started watching Cricket Matches in the Year of 1972. Cricket was a really game to enjoy. Wait with unblinking eyes to watch a finest stroke of Batsman or a Swinging ball how kissed the bat and went in gloves of the Wicket Keeper. Experts should agree that a Batsman need some time to show his batting quality but IPL doesn't allow him to spare a ball. He is always in tension to pulverise the ball by anymeans either it is with front side of the Bat or backside. So KKR Captain Gambhir's realisation is true to the spirit.
but honestly they all want shorter formats for quick money in a day.Public perception and lifestyle has changed, people don't have the time to watch a match over 3 days or 5 days. There's no way first class or test cricket is going to be acceptable due to paucity of time.
Even today there's a news that BCCI is planning another type of T20 in place of Champions League.
A bowler and a batsman from foreign teams can also be accommodated in Ranji Trophi to get experience of foreign bowlers while playing in their country. However pitch differs. But the Indian players will have know the style and strength of the bowler. When you are offering foreign players in IPL can also try in Ranji Trophy.

Indian pitches have to be changed so that the players can succeed in pitches like Australia, Newzealand and England
