Sorry to say but India should look beyond Dhoni for captaincy now... the role needs some fresh thinking and we should accept that his golden days has passed .. I am a big Dhoni fan but keeping teams interest at the top ,,,, Earlier the reason for Dhonis success was he used to do unusual things and trusted his players... remember yogender sharma over in t 20 wc final.. such a trustful and bold decision which oflate has not been the case. Now a days he is idealess most of the time and biggest worry is he dont trust the players and blame them whenever opportunity comes after a loss rather than saying we will bounce back or correct our mistake .. I feel he has given a lot to Indian cricket and being in such high pressure job for so long has now fatigued him. Nevertheless he should be respected for his contributions and listened.
I wonder if bowlers selected for India team needs motivation only. They are suppose to bowl right, if at all selection is not biased, like selectors son sitting in team for name of playing for India...
While Gavaskar is right that captains should indeed support his bowlers but this is first time Dhoni is seen critical of his bowlers. Otherwise he has always been very supportive of his bowlers . The frustration of the series loss and the perceived division in the side could be the reason. Earlier he offered to step down too ? Given that the same set of bowlers had done well just couple of weeks ago in the WC this sudden loss of form perhaps Dhoni is unable to reconcile with. Further, how does one explain sudden dropping of Rahane ? Very unlike a capt. Dhoni ! Rahane lost Dhoni’s trust ? Undoubtedly all is not hunky dory in the team and the media reports about division in the side cannot be dismissed altogether. Repeated batting failures of the middle order comprising Virat Kohli and Rahane taken together with inept bowling by pacers, Dhoni must be finding difficult to reconcile. But for Dhoni,Rayudu and Raina coming good and the spinners (who have come to Dhoni’s support) bowling well in the last match a ‘Banglawash’ was on the cards. The way the Bangla batters looked to take away the 3rd game too thrashing the pacers Dhoni did look nervous not sure whom to bowl! Perhaps that explains Dhoni’s somewhat uncharacteristic acts and observations. Coming to pacers for one dayers for the home series the experienced and wily Zaheer Khan who gave a glimpse of vintage class with the swing and nip in the for DD in the just concluded IPL this yr

This theory is okay while playing with teams like BD,ZIM,SL,WI etc. But when we play with teams like AUS/NZ/SA we need a solid player who can face pace bowlers and score century in overseas condition unlike MSD who after playing for yrs. have not scored any century outside Asia. Still people like Sunil,Shilpa call him match winner. Shame Shame..
Sunil don't get angry man. I agree Dada/Sachin/Dravid etc. did not do anything for team India. But at least we did not lose series to minnows like BD at their time. And do I need to remember you about 8-0 humiliation??

you are right dada team sachin dravid laxman bhajji zaheer sehwag etc responsible for 8-0...the reason why india went down in ranking and now that the eng aus series results are not counted any more we are back at no 3...
Dhoni can only encourage bowlers. He cannot teach them bowling. Our bowlers need to use their brain while bowling. UMESH YADAV only bowls with speed, he doesn't care where he is bowling, most of his bowling is either short, predictable or on the leg stump a gift for batsman. MOHIT SHARMA is the bowler who has very limited talent, only has that slower one, but he uses it far too many times & hence predictable. B.KUMAR used to swing the bowl when he was new, but lost the pace as well as swing & very predictable. Same is the case with bench strength bowlers like ISHANT SHARMA, AARON, KULKARNI, BINNY etc. Only SHAMI BOWLED WITH HEART AT TIMES, but he also got too tired and started to bowl too short and length bowls. Our bowlers need to have attacking mindset rather than defensive. This also holds true for spinners like ASHWIN who bowl defensively many times. They need to read the pitch, conditions, players strengths and weaknesses and change their plan accordingly rather than premeditate and try too many things or become predictable.

This is bound to happen. Dhoni is reluctant to hire good bowling coaches. He had lot of authority at Srini mama's time in BCCI. But he never used it in a good way..
1. Umesh yadav- looks like he has vision problem, sees leg stump as off stump and ends up bowling on leg side. 2. mohit sharma- just does not have confidence or pace. he is easy meat for todays t20 type batsmen. these two made us lose wc semis. these two made us lose bangla series. pl. india sake do not pick above bowlers ever again
