Indian bowlers have speed but lack the high arm action compared to that of Aussies, Africans or Englishmen do.

Most of the time Indians bowl only full length deliveries way offside or legside which makes the batsman to score freely without any pressure.

Not theirs fault since they dont have that high arm action for a better control of line & length. Only bowling speed will not help.

Kapil Dev I think was the only Indian bowler to have that weapon & was successfull in both forms of the game.

In order to be a good bowler, any fast bowler needs to develop that HIGH ARM ACTION to bowl consistently with speed, line & length.

An experienced bowling coach will definitely do wonders & will surely teach Indians how to adopt to those bowling techniques.

You hit the nail on the head. Duncan Fletcher and Venkatesh Prasad are poor quality coaches in any form of cricket.

IPL bad for young bowlers

The brain hones its skills during "down time", when you are resting. Bowlers need off-season. Only then will they improve.

Can Bowling coach help???
by Bodh Ramdeo on Jan 15, 2015 09:45 AM

Can't get straight wood from bent tree...bowling coach can help only so much, but unless the bowlers have the right stuff to start with, no amount of 'coaching' will make much difference.

PLAY 2PACERS 2SPINNERS 1 PACER AR OR 2P 3SPINNERS

One thing for sure is that a big support staff is no substitute for professional bowling coaches both for pace and spin bowling. Besides imparting the basic skills overall they will be advising the bowlers constantly at every break and at every dynamic stages of a match. During a low they should be in a position to buck them up to retrieve the position with important suggestions while on a high they must be able to guide during breaks to press home the advantage and not allow the game to drift.Advice of a bowling coach at these crucial juncture can make world of difference. However for this Indian side one more important aspect is as Anil Kumble rightly points out is a change in mindset and thinking. of the team think tank especially of the caotain. The way they persisted with just one spinner all through inspite of Nathan Lyon taking max wickets is a case in point. Indians have a closed mind that overseas wickets say in Aus only pace would work and that spinners have no or marginal role. It is completely erroneous mindset because their pace attack is not even half as good as that of the opponents. So what is point playing 3 pacers none of whom are good enough to take more than 1 or 2 wickets ? On the other hans spin is our strength and playing 2 in tandem or even 3 of them will certainly be more effective and could produce more chances. Indians must adopt some such strategy during the one dayers and WC matches where the middle overs are going to hold the key. Alternately

(contd.)Alternately strategy could be to play 2 pacers ,2 spinners and try pacer all-rounders like Stuart Binny or Dhawal Kulkarni. If the latter deliver it will be a bonus and there is no harm in trying. But for heaven’s sake do not play 3 pacers.

A coach can get the best from a player who has got talent. No coach can produce a fast or a slow bowler. Talent hunt should be launched. Retired players should visit primary schools and places where minor leagues are played. The board/government can take care of the schooling, diet and other financial needs. You may get good bowlers in the next ten years.
