Indian team should learn from Karnataka Ranji bowlers
by samudra blr on Jan 11, 2015 04:34 AM

Indian team should learn from Karnataka Ranji bowlers, they are consistently taking 20 wickets in every match they play
VinayKumar has led his bowlers well, they won Ranji Championship last year , as well as the limited over version, they defeated even Rest of India(ROI), due to politics in selection, not even a single Karnataka player represented indian bowling attack in Australia

No dearth of players
by Varadarajan Ravindran on Jan 11, 2015 01:07 AM  | Hide replies

There is no dearth of batsmen or bowlers. Players like Suresh Raina who have technical problems against pace bowling should never be selected on on-sub-continental matches. The useless and over-paid Mahendra Singh Dhoni should be retired from all formats of the game. He is another brand scam on critical foreign tours; he is an order of magnitude worse than Sachin Tendulkar on fast and bouncy tracks. India must not encourage line-and-length bowlers without much pace. The selection must be restricted to bowlers with heavy pace, supported by good bounce, length, swings and cuts. Bowlers like Bhuvaneshwar Kumar are not sustainable. India does not take good fast bowlers from states like Jammu and Kashmir because they are not supported by "popular" state cricket boards. Bowlers without pace must never find a place as opening bowlers. Furthermore, left hand bats with good technique must be promoted. In the batting line-ups, left hand and right hand combination will ruin the rhythms of bowlers, especially when they rotate their strikes. Similarly, left arm bowlers with heavy pace must be promoted. A combination of right and left arm bowlers will upset the concentrations of most batsmen to some extent. Spinners do not have much impact on many foreign tours unless they are very good. Top bats who are inclined to be wicket-keepers must be groomed and not the other way around; or else, we will end up with good keepers and below average bats.

Re: Re: dearth of bowlers
We all know how average a bowler Vinay Kumar is in ODIs itself (poor bowling in death overs). There are no bowlers of the caliber of Srinath or Kumble at this time. Stop focusing on Ranji trophy alone as a selection criteria for overseas TESTS!

Mithun is consistent and he should be a given chance. Shami and Kumar can be continued as they are wicket takers in favourable conditions. vinay is also consistent

dearth of bowlers

Bhuvi had to be selected based on his performance in England but I was 100% sure he will be a flop in Australian conditions.Umeash,Shami and Aaron bowl one or two good deliveries in 10 overs, rest of the time they pitch the ball right under their feet:) Add to this, they have been consistently selecting three pacers as if they will rattle the Australian batsmen with their pace.If only India had played two spinners and two pacers in all the four tests, the series would have been more competitive.

Two spinners is a a must for India anywhere they play . Instead of Raina at 6 we need an allrounder like Rishi Dhawan. Who will atleast keep it tight.

Karnataka has been consistently taking 20 wickets of the opposition, on different surfaces, this alone proves the effective bowling arsenal karnataka is having, they have effective medium pace department as well as spin
