things are so much easier now..if shastri got problem,he should call tendu or ganguly. bbefore match he can ask advice from 5 top players. if theres some problem during match, he should quickly ring up tendu and ganGuly or kapil dev and ask them. also during match,DHONI is best brain in ODI world cricket ODI by far !
No he should not be continued as he was unnesesarily brought in .One day is a total different ball game ,had Fletcher being there the result would have been same. He is a BCCI paid man hence should not be given any credit as he has done nothing for one day series. He could not improve Pujara Kohili or Dhavan

even Wasim an Manjrekar can be included in your list: Wasim : This is fifth ball before the last ball. Shastri : he took him to cleaners...
It had been a practice that only professional commentators who have very good knowledge of the game were commenting live for cricket matches until 80s. But then came a total change that recent cricketers turned as commentators creating only full appreciation for a 6 or total blaming comment for a duck out. So, the way commentaries are given by recently retired cricketers only shows the way a normal person can give. in fact these cricketers were playing with the present players in the previous series only. So, it would be more prudent that only professional commentators or ex cricketers with at least 10years after their retirement only should become as cricket commentators.
A big YES. Shastri apart from good analyser has good experience of playing in countries like England & Australia. Moreover he has seen lot many matches as an exprt comentrator. This will help our team and he knows well how to treat individual team members with his wide experience.

Apart from Shastri's inane comments on TV,- I just switch off when he is on the mike - the best course would be make him advise the under-19 teams, not with going ga ga over his contribution in the one-dayers against England - which hardly made any difference to the ultimate results. When will media become real analystical instead of becoming BCCI mouthpiece.
