Sad day for cricket,as an Indian my deepest condolences to Hughes family.I still remember few years back our own player Raman Lamba died of same circumstances.its truly very sad for us
To all the people who compared the batsmen playing fast bowlers without helmet in earlier days with players playing now with helmet. My observation is that the fast bowlers of yester years never targeted the bouncer towards the player. They wouldn't do that morally as well since the ball is a lethal weapon at that speed. This can be seen by the bodyline series which made headlines due to the fact that it was first time when the bouncers were targeted towards the batsmen. With the invention of Helmets..more and more bowlers targeted the bouncers towards batsmen to unsettle them but and not to injure. I would say players today are more at risk when facing fast bowlers then their piers.
